It'll suck when they make it illegal for companies to offer that, or start prosecuting cross State abortions.

Not saying I'd plan on it, but if my wife and I had another 'oops, I'm pregnant again', it would be nice to get a paid vacation

How about they give every employee who works at the Disney Resorts in Florida 3 years' pay and the opportunity to relocate and stay with the company...then shut down Walt Disney World?

This story again. Disney is offering something that they know almost no one will take advantage of and anyone who does will suddenly find their work career derailed after everything is said and done. HR is hell to deal with when having normal medical issues like surgeries. It will be a different kind of hell if you have to tell them why specifically you want to take that trip out of state.

Abortions are greener for the environment and cheaper to the health care than taking the spermlings to term.

I'm told good infertility coverage isn't too common among employer plans so while we're in the mood I'll give Disney a shoutout for providing it. And I'll also hope outloud this decision doesn't rob others from possibly doing IVF or other treatments in the next few years.

In the long run it will save them money in family benefits they don't have to pay for. It just makes good fiscal sense. It's too bad many of our legislators are so damn short-sighted.

Not quite. Abortion bans are about creating more poor people. People always miss the forest for the trees.

I'll be honest, it won't affect my kids... the ones still in this country are planning an exit to a sane non-theocracy. My wife and I are too old to be affected. However, we also know this won't affect the rich. Why? They'll just go somewhere it's legal to get an abortion, birth control, whatever fertility services they need.

Poor people are stuck. Banning abortion is the next step for the .1% to create (in their view) a permanent underclass of (near) slave labor... slaves in all but name. To do this they need to outlaw not only abortion, but also birth control. Oh, and surprise, Clarence is already saying birth control is on the chopping block. They won't stop at the pill, IUD's, and so on... they want to outlaw ALL forms of birth control... yes even condoms. On top of that they want to outlaw sterilizations, so no more vasectomy snips or tubal ligations or hysterectomies.  They want it so anyone having sex, well any durty poors (e.g. the bottom 90%) is taking a risk they will form babby.

They want "working poor" women barefoot, pregnant, living in fear, working two or more jobs, self medicating with cheap alcohol (preferred) or drugs, barely able to cover the bills, with multiple kids. They want them stressed running from one thing to the next, too busy to be a mom, raising multiple kids they didn't want in the first place, in poverty, with poor to middling nutrition, and a poor education.

Of course for guys it isn't much different, since they want their grunt labor as well. So they'll keep the guys poor, living in fear, working three or more jobs, self-medicating with cheap alcohol (preferred) or drugs, actually unable to cover the bills, so they fall behind on their child support, end up in jail, have to pay for the privilege of being in that private jail (privatize the profits!) on work release, for multiple kids they didn't want in the first place. They want the men to hate those kids, so the kids have all sorts of psychological issues, that way they likely won't dream/strive too much, and probably stay poor.

After all, without support the working poor tend to raise working poor. That's why they spent decades shredding the social safety net.

Don't miss the forest for the trees. The HAIL JEEBUS brigade is the public face, but the people funding them and the Republican Party are the .1% who don't give a shiat about anything but maintaining a lifestyle that would make Croesus blush with envy. To do that they need a bunch of expendable (near) slaves. You want to stop this? You need to stop the .1% Federalist Society fascists.

It's cheaper than family leave, or adding another name to the insurance rolls, and it keeps women at their desks where they belong, serving the corporation they love.

I expect their healthcare already covered this and they're just milking it for some press (although good for them on the side they've chosen).  Transportation and lodging for approved medical procedures not offered in your area is a common coverage term.

As soon as states try going after othe estates for abortion, that's when the next Civil War happens. That's almost literally the setup that led to the first one.  Several states have already said they won't allow other states to come into their jurisdiction and enforce their laws, because that's exactly how state's rights are supposed to work.

Cheaper to pay $4k than to have the increased healthcare so ya, more sick days, and parental leave. Saves them thousands paying for abortions.

the relatively low cost good PR of paying for the very few people who would take advantage of this instead of stopping any donating to the party who caused the problem.

wake me when they announce no more bribery lobbying money to shiat on the littles party.

I worked for Disney for over a decade. Not always the best place. But they do take their offered benefits seriously. In 1995 they were basically the first Fortune X (whatever the highest tier they're in) to offer SSDP benefits. People absolutely took them up on it. No one faced any reprocussions.

Disney allows transgender employees to transition and the healthcare covers a lot of it. I worked with someone almost daily that was using that benefit. She never faced any issues for doing so.

Yes. Disney has a lot of issues lately, but they're publicly saying this is a thing... Then it's a thing. And in light of Bob Paycheck's failings of late, they're going to do a lot to counter that.

So yeah. This is a real win from Disney right now.

And it covers *a lot* but it will likely cover any ABC owned and operated station. Any Disney Store in a mall in random red state. Etc etc.

Disney's let New Bob do some stupid shiat recently, but this is a good thing.

This one is bigger than just Florida. Any ABC owned and operated station is likely covered. That random Disney Store in a mall in whatever red state? Covered.

When "Disney" offers a benefit, it's generally conveyed to the entirety of everything they own.

I mean, if your thought process was right, why wouldn't they have fired anyone that signed up for SSDP benefits in 1995 when they started offering them. Or maybe fired anyone that took advantage of their support for people as they transitioned?

I swear to fuck. Everyone loves to hate on Disney, while being stupid as shit about the things that actually go on.
