No mention of the black and white paint thing he did at WM6?  surprising!

love the guy.   Probably had his best technical match with Bret at WM8 (and i was there!).  The dog collar match with valentine in the early 80s as well is great.   You can't look at a broad history of 1980-1997 without his name coming up constantly in memorable moments.

The best thing about him was really the talking and how damn entertaining a person he was.

I've never watched wrestling, but I was quite familiar with him from "They Live" and talk shows. He seemed like quite a character and he had a lot of natural charisma.

Yeah it was there.

<<WrestleMania 2 saw him headline his leg of the event from the Nassau Coliseum in a boxing match that went off the rails with celebrity visitor Mr. T. From there, he engaged in an even uglier spectacle at WrestleMania 6 with Bad News Brown.
The otherwise forgettable match achieved infamy for the poor choice for Piper to wear black paint over half his body.>>

I remember reading that small snippit, but going back and trying to find it? Damn, I now realize that article is all over the place chronologically, thematically and for course logically.

Almost every wrestlemania match of his ended with a big wrestlemania moment and him grinning his ass at the hard camera basking in the glow of the crowd.

I was at Wrestlemania 19 in Seattle.

I still remember someone running down the aisle to my left, and a brief moment later, I realized it was Roddy Piper...he interfered in the match between Hogan and McMahon.

He was too much a lone wolf. Not always able to go along with story lines. Sadly, it hurt his career and makes it seem chaotic looking back.

The Piper/Snooka interview is a thing of beauty. So unexpected.

Piper discussed it later in an interview and said that he just kept hitting Snuka because he knew if he stopped, Snuka was going to get up and kick his ass. Then he quickly left the arena before Snuka got to the back.

Oh yeah.  But for some strange reason, I prefer the interview with Frank Williams.

He has a New York accent but claims to be from Columbus, Ohio.....LOL

He was such a great heel when I was a kid that I went through some cognitive dissonance when They Live came out. I had to learn to like him because he was so damn good in the movie.
