And after defrauding Medicare, he became Governor of Florida.

Then, a U.S. Senator.

Weekly World News wasn't wrong. He's scary.

I really miss the Weekly World News.  It was something to look forward to when the groceries were put away.  Especially the Dear Dottie and Ed Anger columns.

I used to read the Weekly World News all the time growing up. It was the only thing my mom could get me to read.

At one point it was worth it for the headlines alone.  I covered my stereo in clippings like "YOU MAY AS WELL PUT AN APE IN THE PULPIT!"and "BUS RIDE TO MARS!!"

Dear Dottie was a national treasure.

I happened to look at the cover of one of those things the other day.  The front cover said that Michelle Obama had fallen for the pool boy.  Unreal-literally.

This was a staple of high school Friday night with my friends.

I'm pretty upset the Button up shirt is out of stock.  I would have bought that.

We'd pass them around in detention. Yeah, I was there a lot. "My cat is Hitler!" was one of my favorites. It was a Hitler-looking cat that just didn't like any of the lady's Jewish friends--but liked all her other friends.

Totally true!!

Saddam vs. Bush would have been cool. Who would have won that? Saddam was actual military, yet Jr.. had impressive dodge rolls.

My favorite newspaper, the only believable one (they say so, right on the cover). They get their stories the honest way (they make them up).

My favorite of all, that confirmed how much I liked them, was in early April of '93? '94? Main cover: NASA finds alien baby in crashed UFO!" In an inset block, "Unidentified farm couple waiting to adopt."

How can you not love them?

I think "60 Minutes" did a story on that whole group of then-current scandal sheets.  They were almost all done within about 20 miles of each other in south Florida, mostly by ex-pat Brits who liked the weather..  I remember Mike Wallace saying, "Come on....you can't be saying this stuff is true..." and the youngish editor saying, "oh, we're not saying it's true....we're saying, 'it's been reported..."" and you read the pieces, and a good amount of them are citations to some (supposed) paper in China, or South America, or Spain or Poland.  Generally countries without English as a first language.

I like how the geniuses in their Digital Media department decided that Bat Boy also drives with his mouth wide open. They come up with one pose for these creations, then they dcide that  despite the fact that all of the rest of us make different faces, adopt different posture, etc., depending on what it is we're doing. Not so with Bat Boy, though, he has one default look...
