I was in love as soon as I heard her covering rancid and absolutely torching the fingerboard.

Ugh. No. Just no.

The whole "quirky bluegrass cover of a song that isn't typically bluegrass" thing never, ever works. Ever. It's always so goddamn cringey. They tried this with rap about a decade ago too. Gross. Leave Rancid alone and make your own goddamn songs.

I'd only heard of her vaguely before yesterday's segment but plan on becoming much more familiar with her work. And she looks very young, which hopefully means she has a long, quality road ahead of her.

No audio here but, she looks like Jewel Staite.

That's a very good thing

Bluegrass talent contest. First prize is a banjo. Second prize is two banjoes.

Reciting scale exercises with a thin, plinky guitar tone really does it for me. .
If there was some way she could involve polka, it would be just perfect.

She's a great picker. I've watched some of her stuff on the tubes, and her collabs with Billy Strings. I've come back around to liking some country and blue grass. I found out what I really hated was the twangy, wife left me and took my dog and truck kind of country.

Kind of strange to listen to Billy Strings and find out he started playing heavy metal guitar before he went to blue grass.

Bluegrass gets weird.  Well since the late 80s.  Tony Rice and Bela Fleck did all kinds of crappy fusion.
