More than a few things loose.

Still waiting in the DOJ to go after more people than Navarro after saying they won't go after Meadows.

The folks who did stuff like attempt to submit a false slate of electors, or put themselves forward as state electors when they were not, are going to see real trouble.

Signing false documents & sending them to the gov't is just poking the bear.

Can someone clarify what they do with a subpoena like this? What makes me wonder is why they go after the physical phone when texts are all recorded by the provider and whoever they were sent to, and whoever's provider too.

Boy....this sure does come fast on the heels of the Johnson revelation.

Seems quite interesting that Johnson was caught WAAAYYYYYYYY off guard with this.  And there is a multi-level messaging going on here:  Johnson was the first in what I imagine was a LOOONNNGGGGG line of GOP Congresscritters who had more than a passing knowledge of what was going down.

There is the One Man Audience of Trump...The Cult....and the GQP who helped but have GOT to see if they have a line on a hard copy document trying to get passed to Pence....do they also know I did...OH farrrrkkkkk.

Probably also combing their memory banks to recall if they talked to the documentary guy while he was filming and eeekkkkk.....

The Johnson revelation was the subtle messaging 'You still got time to play ball....'

OK...but issue me a subpeona so it looks like I had to!

As you wish!

Sure....the Roe stuff is gonna chew up a lot of energy when it gets dropped and competing for that attention is not needed right now since people REALLY need to realize cancer is wildfiring all over us and we gotta chop a limb or somthing....AND...given who may be motivated to testify now that it's pretty clear they are finding shiat out that clearly no one suspected and there are still, easily, dozens of players who may feel their hides are worth saving - because Trump will NOT get indicted - but Senators and Reps getting indicted would sure be a BIG old Opticsgasm of handcuffs adorning the wrists of the likes of MGT, Jordan, etc.

/I will devote the entire rest of my life to Democratic everything if they manage to have proven that the DNC pipe bomber was, in fact, MGT and it's first revealed during the hearings:  My GOD please let her have a camera on her iif that happens...because Liz drop kicking her to a terrorism charge on live TV is a lovely ingredient to the salve this country needs!)
/Don't discount Cawthorn COULD decide to just LEEERRROOYYY JEEENNNKKIINNNSSS the whole thing and drop all the dimes....but that seems like a longshot.)

I've been a huge steely Dan fan since I was a teenager. Back then they never went on tour, ever.

Then in my late 20's there was some music festival somewhere (too long ago now to remember) and Donald Fagan was going to be there playing solo stuff.

My exhubby and I got tix and went. Fagan played 2 steely Dan songs in his set and the place went nuts. It wasn't too long after SD started touring. I've seen them lots of times now (even without Becker as he has since passed away quite some time ago now though) and was never disappointed.

/ I've been to well over 400 concerts so far and still counting
//Roger Waters is up next this August (I've seen every tour he's done except amused to death because he only did 2 USA venues at that time)

These are also people who sometimes, in prior cases, have used encrypted auto-deleting messaging apps for security but also screenshotted from those apps to keep a record of their texts.

You can't make up stupidity that funny.

You have to understand, in order for a Judge to sign off on a subpoena, there already needs to be evidence of a crime.  If they specifically ask for your devices, it means you are in deep doo doo. Some messaging apps, the only way to find the actual messages is to get access to the devices

Many also forget that back in April of last year, all of Gulliani's phones, and devices were subpoenaed, and it has probably taken this long to finally get through all the privilege exemptions

True, but subpoenas and search warrants dropped  yesterday all over the country in the fake electors case.

But this does suggest that wwwdotfarkdotcom will always prioritize a snappy headline over a technically accurate one.

The warrant is part of an ongoing investigation that included subpoenas earlier this year.

1. You match the phone data with the metadata on the info from the provided. "This MAC address sent this text or image, and we can confirm that it is from this device, which we found in the possession of this individual." Digital forensic stuff.

2. It's just a power move. "The weight of law says you're going to be without your phone for a while. Don't worry- if there's nothing incriminating on it, you don't have a thing to worry about."

#1 is more important in a court of law. #2 is funnier.

If you want to read end-to-end encrypted messages and you don't have a Hollywood style 'override encryption'-button, seizing the actual phone makes your live easier.

You joke, and rightly so, but they do turn up all sorts of things that may or may not be within the scope of the warrant. Maybe they expected them to be there, maybe they get new leads on what to look for and where.

Isn't that illegal without a warrant?

I kinda thought it just logged who called who.

Or can a judge a warrant allowing for calls to be released?
