Yeah, but I had to put two blankets on my bed this winter, so you see climate change is really just a hoax.

If only we had some warning the last couple decades. Only answer I see is to burn more coal so we can get some shade from the sun.

It was 102° in Omaha day before yesterday, and humidity was probably 85%. I was finishing up a deck for a client, and from 7:30-8:30, I went through 2 shirts and a gallon of water. Reminded me of Atlanta in July.

More than a dozen schools in Minnesota that are not fully air-conditioned moved to e-learning

AKA, not-learning.

The heat was actually kind of pleasant in Minnesota, considering we're coming off the coldest spring on record.

And STILL it spares DC and the northeast. Which is good from a humanitarian perspective but I honestly don't think the rich and powerful will get it until it happens to them. And they are very concentrated in the NE.

Yeah, but my feet are cold, so it can't be global warming.

On the flip side:

Wind and solar power are 'bailing out' Texas amid record heat and energy demand

That has to hurt! :D

Who knew summer could be so hot?

Yeah climate change exists, but until we get good people elected I'm done shiatting my pants over the temperature. Solar has been undermined by big oil and their lackeys, and overrun by opportunists and con-artists. Electric cars have existed for over 50 years but if you want one you have to have a lot of $$, go halfsies with gas, or buy from a giant doosh.

We're farked and I am done being upset by it; call me when something interesting happens. Call me when a massive  ice-sheet crashes into the atlantic and sends a massive tidal wave to take out the northeast coast.

There are earlier warnings, but it doesn't really matter. The fossil fuel industry's own scientists told them what was happening decades ago, and they just doubled down and hired advertising agencies to generate FUD. I mean how can we possibly leave all that profit on the table just because we'll eventually make the planet rather unpleasant.

I do feel for those folks, though. Last year was rough. I'm no longer in Seattle (now I'm on Steamboat peninsula, south sound) but the heat dome last year was gnarly as fark. It was not at all normal for Western Washington. I'll take this year's extra rain and low temps over 110 degrees.

When the worst of it was here, a Facebook friend from Texas was making fun of all the people complaining about the heat.

He changed his mind when I told him that most residents here do not have air conditioning.

Indeed! Just like snow in Seattle. It doesn't happen often so the infrastructure isn't there to deal with it, and there are a shiat load of steep hills. But folks not familiar with the area are like, "haha, pussies".

Yes this is bad weather driven by a change in the climate.  The 2 are different but connected.  The earth has warmed 1.6f in the last hundred years, that may not sound like much but it's not spread out even all the time and leads to these dramatic heat waves, heat domes and polar vortex becoming more common as the climate continues to change.
The weather in Arizona may be nice some days but the climate has become more arid.
Now we know the difference between weather and climate!

adamatari: And STILL it spares DC and the northeast. Which is good from a humanitarian perspective but I honestly don't think the rich and powerful will get it until it happens to them. And they are very concentrated in the NE.

North Easterner here, not rich (yet) or powerful but we have our fair share of climate related crap.  Sandy was an 11 day outage and we had remnants of a nor Easter that beat the hell out of us.  80 days in October and other odd anomalies that are all once in a hundred years happening every few years.   Unfortunately I think we are due for another major hurricane to kick our butts very soon.  Luckily all the power poles are warped and leaning so I'm sure they will hold up.
