They probably had that disabled

Given how many PC games don't let you do that, that's pretty impressive.

I was told they'd never add an easy mode.

in all seriousness, this is one of the bigger quality of life fixes that's plagued every FROMSOFT game. Glad it got done.

It was worse on Elden Ring than it is for most games. I liked Elden Ring a lot - and beat it - but quitting out was a weirdly long process.

To quit you had to:
1. Hit escape to bring up the menu
2. Choose the right tab (System, I think)
3. Hit the Quit button
4. Confirm the choice
5. Go through a splash screen
6. When that's done and the title menu comes up again hit any key to continue
7. Scroll down the main menu
8. Choose the quit out of the game option
9. Wait for like 10 seconds or so while you still hear the game music as the game is closing
10. You're now free to roam about the desktop!

Wat, that's not the same thing, that was basically the ability to Minimize back in the DOS days.

Oh shiat, just read those patch notes and saw this:
- Added keyboard/mouse operations that can be input in "PRESS ANY BUTTON" on the title screen.

So yeah, I forgot to add to step 6 - "Press Any Key To Continue" actually meant "Press Some of the Keys to Continue".

Yeah I've always hated that - way too many games have something similar.  Did you want to quit?  Ok, quitting area.  Oh you wanted to QUIT.  Ok, quitting this game.  No?  Quitting this profile!  WHAT?  Fine.  Go have fun with your OTHER friends, here's the desktop.  No, I'm fine.  Go on, have fun!

Ok, that's rougher than usual.  Still, whoever decided "quit game" means "go to splash screen" deserves a kick in the jimmies.

The whole proccess always felt passive agressivly jealous to me.

"Don't go!"
"Didn't we have fun?"
"I'll wait for you!"

"...soo lonely."

1-6 are the typical fair with most FROMsoft games on consoles. They really don't like you turning the game off without quitting to menu for one last "world condition" save.

Gods forbid you have to pay for a game with over 100 hours of excellent hand-crafted content.

It was easy to quit on PS4 and PS5. I really don't understand what the PC Master race is complaining about.

Also, enjoyed the game so much I went double platinum (all trophies for PS4 and PS5).

FTFY.

There's a difference between "Quit Game" and "Exit Program". Lack of direct exit is a problem, I suppose, but on my playstation I just go to the menu and close the application itself. Takes like 3 button presses.
