If the penalty for an attempted coup is a slap on the wrist and the reward for a successful one is control of the entire government, we're gonna see some trouble coming up.

I prefer the old-school penalty for failed coups. It involved a masonry wall and an optional cigarette.

Can we just prosecute these folks for voter fraud and election interference already? And then have it on record WHICH side is trying to tamper with elections by fraud?

Trump said himself to an interviewer (FOX or CNN?) that the whole point of claiming 'fake news' for everything was so that the general populace has no idea what might be true of false at any time.  That means everything is equally true to incurious people, which is about 70ish percent of us.  So when they throw out nonsense, obvious lies, like adrenochrome toddler farms or the Deep State, they already have a built-in base of people incapable of disbelieving it.  Not necessarily believing it, but not disbelieving it, which is almost as good.

At this point the DOJ is just dragging their feet. The criminality is blatantly obvious and yet Biden is too much of a pussy to do anything because he's doesn't want to piss people off. Progressives have been betrayed by lukewarm allies who are too chickenshiat to do the right thing for fear alienating "moderates".
It's board room politics at its worst.

But I mean, still not a good thing that the big lie is enduring despite Republican's blatant attempts to literally destroy democracy.

We are watching the slow destruction of our democracy and it pisses me off that Republicans have any shot at power again. They should all be indicted and prosecuted for sedition and insurrection and be barred from office forever.

America needs harsh justice against powerful white politicians in order to heal. The hearings better break through because we're going into midterms that could return traitors to the American dream to power, and we can't allow that to happen.

The people who attempted the coup forgot one thing. What were they going to do with the power they stole once that they got it?

Did they think Americans would not actually do anything about it?

Is there a chance DOJ is not preferring charges for failure to appear for subpoena because these people are providing evidence in other prosecutions?

as someone who lived there for seven years in the aughts...I can confirm.

I was told I talked too fast when I first arrived. I wondered how they can follow along with the TV.

Got a haircut at a local barber. While they could understand the mumbling noises coming out of their mouths, I could barely parse a word of it.

Other fun experience was like a scene from Funny Farm (chevy Chase) a friend from California came to visit, He literally thought I paid people to act and talk a certain way when we went to the grocery store. Nope, all authentic.

It's kinda said when I say something MIGHT happen to them, I'm still couching that in a BIG maybe. Face it: justice in America only really exists to be weaponized against its underclasses.

yep. Nothing but small banks, churches in shopping centers and antique stores.  Lotta "old Money" but no new businesses, it is a dying town.

Fun Fact: The high school mascot are the Trojans. Which the kids never seem to wear judging by the number of young mothers.

"Coffee Co. reported 590 births from teens aged 15-19; the teen birth rate is 57.3 per 1,000. Teens who are abused are 6x more at risk for pregnancy; Coffee Co. could save $6.1 million if unplanned teen pregnancies were avoided."

Note the national rate is 16.7 per 1,000 females in 2019.

31% of Coffee Co. children live in poverty.

You'd think the local politicians would have more pressing matters to deal with in their own county.

Nixon was the last time anybody on that level has faced any consequences. And now Trump has taught politicians that the law is a mutually shared illusion and you can just ignore it if you chose to. So buckle up!

Privatizing elections is the ONLY solution.  A limited number of companies would be licensed to handle elections, the way some states allow private companies to help license plate renewals so people don't have to stand in line at the DMV.

The companies would charge only a small administrative fee and in return could save the country billions every election cycle.

If enough people decided that it would be better for one candidate to win, the company would take care of the details, for only a small administrative fee to the winning candidate.  A live auction at the end of the election would be exciting to watch on TV, too.

Wall to wall TV campaigns would be a thing of the past.  Just like cable companies decide what channels to run, this would be just like that.  Like the services that allow fast track lines at the airport for screening, the companies would have some unknown vetting process.  Just like signing away all your rights in an EULA, you just pay someone to be your proxy.

You could opt out by either not voting, or waiting in a three day line, since voting resources would be scaled back by an ever thrifty government.

Leave it to the professionals.

Well here's what supposed to happen when "Paul Maggio, an executive at a computer forensics and data storage company" shows up to access the voting machines:

State employee: "Are you on the list of people approved to access these voting machines?"
"No."
"Then fark off!"

The cigarette thing is part of the whole "blindfold and last cigarette" thing for people who get executed by firing squad, not as part of a celebratory smoke for the executioner(s) afterwards (although the executioner(s) are not prohibited from having a celebratory smoke, if they so choose)

The problem is, he's 'correct' because all media has spent the last +60 years crafting the current generation of suckers to fall for the ruse.

The point is to lock 95% of the population into virtual slavery while the top 5% work on building a moon spa to retire on (1/6th less gravity)
