well yeah, cause it don't matter who you work for, govt or private sector, as long as you have to work for any HUMANS, they just wind up exploiting you and you do not get a fair return on your efforts that are just being parasitized for the enrichment of others.
So yeah slacking off is the best counter you can have to that. If you did no work you'd be out of work and then probably hungry and homeless so that ain't a real option.
But you too can simply parasitize the work environment in return, doing exactly what they to you. Give them as little as you can for as much as you can get.

They held all the cards and they created the ADVERSARIAL instead of cooperative situation out of this.
So be it, don't be a free market sucker, do to them as they alrady been doing to you.
I learned it from watching you CEO, i learned it from watching you.

I used to have to subscribe to the NYT to get trend pieces based on a few anecdotes and memes, but now I can them for free from NPR.

Every generation invented turning on, tuning in, and dropping out... except the Boomers.

basically.  this generation is watching their parent's work themselves to death to not, quite, keep up.  you see enough of that and you start to think "if i can't even break even it probably isn't worth the bother."

I'd be real sure that's more of a generation to generation kind of thing, not that al of them do it but the one.
Pretty sure the massive empires of the past, like say the Romans, didn't  what they with a culture of "stick it to  the man." I'd be pretty sure they, like the boomers, were of the cultural POV to join in and be part of.

And it is my own POV that the more current generation, is a lot less, stick it to the man, and lot more, thank you MR.Man sir can i have a dollar to shill your product sir.

Saw a story on China's 996 work BS 9am to 9pm 6 days a week, but it is that in name only even though it is technically illegal. The people that do it just are so burned out they can't even sleep. They make them work more than 12 hours with no days off and if they do get one they spend most of it sleeping.

Sounds like people in the food industry in the US. All the big food processors are guilty of this. All they do is hire a temp agency to mask the bullshiat. Then even bigger one like Kraft will hire a 2nd party plant to make their product, who in turn hires illegals and felon temps.

Work expands to fill the hours available. Which is oddly an old communist manifesto item. In the early days, stoop labor was used to do farm work and civil engineering. I think it was Milton Friedman who had the story about visiting China and seeing ten thousand people digging a canal with shovels. He mentioned building excavators, and was reminded this was about giving people jobs. Ah, then why not take their shovels and give them spoons.

Zoomers = Gen Z?

Can't do that. Zoom meetings have too big a footprint now. Don't get cute.

China has already collapsed.  People just don't see it yet because the media is complicit in propping up its image.

As compared to the U.S.? I guess you can argue the Greatest and Boomers were 2 full generations of improvement. But Gen X, Millenials and Z are all seeing how fun privatizing your life is.
