On one side you have two enormously rich assholes fighting for who can deprive things to people who have less money than they do... each of them punching the other right in the dick on an hourly basis...

On the other side, a guy who just wants to help the people of Pennsylvania.

He's ready for election day right now:

I think it's hilarious that these two are going after each other to disenfranchise each other's voters.  I don't really care who wins, just that they destroy themselves in the process.

And convince their opponent's voters not to vote in November if their candidate loses.

"Undated ballots are ballots that do not have a handwritten date from a voter on their outer envelope, but were otherwise received by election officials by the ballot return deadline. The date on the ballot is not used to determine when ballots were received by election officials - officials in the state typically stamp ballots at the time they were received."

So there's absolutely no question as to whether the ballots were cast on time, there's no indication that there is anything wrong with them, but an insignificant line on the outer envelope should determine if they're valid?

F*ck off Republicans. Just F*ck off.

I hope this helps Fetterman by forcing the Republicans to go after each other in a bitter recount fight while he gets his message out to the voters. Hopefully he can keep up his aggressive campaigning without hurting his health.

2022-06-01 2:29:06 PM
The issue during Tuesday's arguments was a narrow one: ballots where voters did not write a date on their ballots' outer envelope.

I assume this means that the date was, in fact, on the inner contents?  I.e., they're suing over a trivial, pedantic issue that in no way questions the actual validity of the information enclosed?

November is going to be nuts in an awful way.  I would say 'in the worst way possible', but I think that has to be reserved for 2024.

2022-06-01 2:29:45 PM
It is not enough that Fetterman wins, but that Republicans must lose.

He had a stroke two weeks ago on the eve of the primary election. Maybe the stress was too much for him? He's not even campaigning right now because he needs to "rest and recover."

Doesn't sound like the kind of guy who is ready for election day in November, unless we want a Senator Vegetable.

Eh...he won the primary.  It's not as productive to keep campaigning at the same level straight through to the general election.  Voters get fatigued.

So far this sounds like it hurts Fetterman, the higher courts are siding against the lower courts.  The lower courts were trying to get more mail in ballots to count.  In 2020, mail in ballots heavily favored the D's.

So, more voter restrictions, hurray!

I've been assured by the enlightened centrists that the only solution to voter restrictions emplaced by Republicans is to vote. Even if they throw your vote out.

Dear GQP:

Please take as much time as you need to decide this. Also which ever side does not win your voters should stay at home for the general election.

Sincerely,

Lt. Gov Fetterman, Gritty, and (most of the rest of the nation as well)

From another article on the same topic on why the appeals court said to count the ballots:
"We are at a loss to understand how the date on the outside envelope could be material when incorrect dates - including future dates - are allowable but envelopes where the voter simply did not fill in a date are not," Judge Theodore McKee, a Clinton appointee, wrote for a unanimous three-judge panel.

2022-06-01 2:43:16 PM
"Ignoring ballots because the outer envelope was undated, even though the ballot was indisputably received before the deadline for voting serves no purpose other than disenfranchising otherwise qualified voters. This is exactly the type of disenfranchisement that Congress sought to prevent."

This is how these foolish rules are stilted towards Republicans:  its just statistics -- if this rule is allowed, more votes will be deducted, statewide from the more populous, progressive counties, while some, but fewer, overall, will be deducted from the less populated rural counties.

It's the only reason to justify the existence of the rule -- rules like these are the "broken tailights" of voting.

If she doesn't die in office, she will be 91 in 24.  While she filed for re-election, i think there is a high chance someone forces her to retire or she gets defeated in a primary.

Disefranchizement, Trump used the fact that PA said you can;t count mail in untill the polls close as a way to claim fraud.  The GOP kissing his ass decided to pass dumb laws to make it harder to vote for stupid mistakes anyone can make.  Thats it.

Also, the gop has no plan.  They know that time is against them.  The younger generations (X,Y, Melinials, whatever is after them) are more liberal.  so when the boomers who are more consirvative die out in 20-30 years it will be harder for them to win on numbers alone.  Also the fact that white population growth is down (its down in general) and in 20ish years Whites will be a minority in the US.  The demographics are 100% against the GOP, in 20 years or so they will be a minor party.

The only thing going for them is younger people are not voting right now, but they will as they get older, and the trend of them moving to conrisvative as they get older is not happening atm.  What we are seeing is the last grasp at power for a dying party.  They have to cheat to win, and making it harder to vote is how they are doing it now.

The GOP basicly has three options right now:  1) come up with a plan that people like (and they aren't, as its the same 'tax cut bull shiat') and try to win that way.  2) Change the laws to make it harder to vote so they cna hold on to power as long as possible untill the enveitable happens.  3) Change the laws, get power and kill democracy for a dictatorship (which will destroy the us and everything they think they are working for {if the us goes into a civil war or breaks up the world economy will collapse and the great depresstion will look like Disneyland in comparison)

It why they won;t end the filibuster as it gives them an excuse to not pass there shiatty ideas (that if implemented would basicly kill the party faster)

We are on the cusp of the death of american democracy as we know it.  The next 20 years will be rough.  Which way things will go.. idk.  But for someone reaosn the gop wants to crown the Orange Turd blossom king.

To specifically have a reason to disallow the ballots.  Back in 2020, our state mailed everyone an absentee ballot without you having to ask - just showed up in the mail one day.  All fine and good, we're entering the 18th century finally.  And then I read the instructions.  They said you had to sign the outer envelope.  But the outer envelope had two places where it said you were not to make any markings whatsoever on it.  And the instructions were very clear that you had to obey all instructions that arrived in the packet (which included the outer envelope).  You literally could not submit a valid absentee ballot.  Was that going to be enforced equitably across the entire state? Fark no!  Certain areas with higher concentrations of Those People and/or Democrats were going to have every ballot tossed for either including or not including a signature on the outer ballot.  And ballots from Bubbastan were going to be accepted no matter what, even if the ballot itself was blank ("We know who you meant to vote for, so we'll just put you down for those").  Wife and I dutifully masked up and tottered down to vote in person specifically because we knew voting by absentee ballot would mean our votes would be trashed.

Never ascribe to stupidity what can be explained by malice

This chaos is a bad thing. This chaos is bad because it is for real. For real. There is no stopping the realchaotic campaigners from being elected to real offices with real legal and discretionary powers. The chaos is not self-defeating. The campaign chaos does not engender any sort of containment of illegality and immoral activity. The chaos is not an impediment to increasing and diversifying control over people and control over land resources.
