Goodyear had supplied two additional tires to most of the entities hoping that it would alleviate the problem

What's the solution for a dangerous set of tires? Two dangerous spares. The Murica tag must have suffered a blowout and is burning in a ditch somewhere.

Really, I feel like the buried lede in all of this is someone thought these idiots deserved to supply another racing series.

It's ok. It's not like a racecar needs tires that don't fall apart at high speeds and loads.   Any ol' car tire will do.  Hell, here's a bias ply that survived the Everett Tire Fire.  You can do 250 mph on it, easy.

The Nürburgring is an exceedingly challenging circuit to develop high performance tires for.  With so many corners of varying speed, the balance between tire wear, grip, and the pressure games teams like to play makes it tough.  That is no excuse for botching it to such a degree, but this isn't an ordinary circuit to come up with a compound for.

All that was missing was Max Mosley/Bernie Ecclestone threatening teams and the tire supplier for trying to bring extra sets.

/And the attorney general threatening legal action in the event fans were injured from a crash due to the tires
