This one feels different. People seem a little different about it.

I'm optimistic this will be the one that moves the needle. In part because we just saw how fast the GOP will act under the pretense of "protecting the lives of babies" and then we'll see them standing there over this pile of dead babies saying this is a just sacrifice for the purity of gun culture. And that center just wont hold...

I'm optimistic. Don't farking reply to me with nihilism.

Kids hate other kids. That's just how its been forever and will be until the end of time. If you give just-turned-18-and-sttill-in-school kids the right to purchase assault rifles you are going to have to deal with the fallout from kids being shredded at school by some loner dirtbag. Let kids finish school and learn to hate the bossman and authority figures before you give them unfettered access to weapons of war.

When your your 10 yr old has to be identified with DNA because they've been smashed into unrecognizable pieces from the definitely foreseeable outcome of the policies of the guy who thinks you giving a DNA swap so the coroner can match you to one of the 19 dead children that have been torn to pieces is an apt sacrifice to his base and wants to have a photo op with you so he can find raise more from the people who sell the things that turned your baby into an unrecognizable slab of obliterated meat... maybe turning down the photo op which will allow someone to treat you burying your 10 yr old baby that was ripped to pieces as an apt sacrifice so some farkhead can move more merch doesn't make them the "political" ones?

My take on why this feels different is the long list of problems caused by the cops, who not only stood around out the front for a very long time but handcuffed parents who wanted to do anything they could to help. It blows the "arm teachers" and "place cops in schools" rubbish out of the water, not to mention the "good guy with a gun" crap too. Nobody believes that a bigger police budget would have made a difference here.

When Texas cops let someone murder that many kids while they get 911 calls and are only minutes away even when it started, all the usual "solutions" are bullshiat. Cruz and Trump are crapping on about doors, next time it will be a window, they've got nothing.

This one feels exactly the farking same as the others. A bunch of young innocent lives horribly and brutally snuffed out and the right are too busy jerking off the NRA and blaming (insert video game or rock band) while giving the most hollow lip service in the form of thoughts and prayers.

I'm contemplating how to prepare my son for the possibility of something like this happening. I'd rather he be prepared than not because you just never know. It's easy to think that it can't happen in your small town but that's exactly what they thought in Sandy Hook or the recent city in Texas whose name I won't try to mangle.  I could try to turn It into a game like "hide and seek but hide really good while I search for you with a nerf gun" But I'd probably just break down sobbing at trying something so morbid. No parent and no kid should have to think about ANY of this to begin with. Our government is failing us big time Just as it has since columbine and just as it will continue to do so unless WE do
Something about it. call. Write. Email. Farking semaphore, ALL of you.  make your voice heard until they can't ignore the problem any more. My phone will be getting quite A workout in the days ahead.

It is far past time to stop pretending that conservative Christians are anything other than malevolently evil human garbage.

Let's revisit this story:

The parents of a transgender child invited scumbag Abbott and the subhuman thing he breeds with over to their house to see what it was like to live with that experience. They genuinely believed that conservative Christians were capable of caring about people's children, capable of empathy.

Instead, they were later victims of child abuse accusations. They had to learn the hard way that the entire time conservative Christians were in their home, that scumbag and the subhuman thing he breeds with were thinking, "How can I hurt this child? How can I hurt this mother? How can I hurt this family?"

They learned this the hard way. It's far past time to stop pretending conservative Christians and the subhuman things they breed with are capable of morality or empathy.

If you boil it down... the farking texas cops were protecting a psycho while he was murdering farking babies and turning them into unrecognizable chunks of meat all because the doctrine of conservatism demands fealty tk rhe AR-15.

They farking protected him. The police kept danger *AWAY* from him so he could turn babies into farking hamburger. They not only allowed that! They protected him from anyone trying to stop him. 2022-05-29 1:30:15 AM
I think that what makes this school shooting hit differently is the fact that the school had taken all of the precautions that the Republicans insisted would prevent such a tragedy from taking place. They did all the drills, they had already "hardened" the school, and they had their own motherf**king police force for the campus. When a mass-murderer with an assault rifle still managed to make it inside, the cops entered the building and were right outside that classroom when there was still a chance to take out the shooter and save some of those children. The cops, who are paid to be "good guys with guns" and had sufficient protective armor available to them, declined to take meaningful action after being shot at and receiving "grazing wounds". The Republican excuses no longer hold up when the only remaining option to prevent this is to completely remove all weapons that only have the purpose of mass-slaughter from the equation.

I'm optimistic. Don't farking reply to me with nihilism.

Okay no nihilism, but here's a healthy dose of reality:

Nothing is going to change because at the end of the day whether they outright say it or not, most Texans and most Republicans, and most politicians, would rather see the monthly mass shooting than support any kind of obstacle to purchasing firearms

That's not nihilism. That's a current political reality.

That will change. Show one baby that was turned into a farking Gallagher show and tell me that becomes a non issue.

They farking killed babies. Little girls just obliterated. And just the idea wounds me. I used to be a big "2nd amendment" guy, but I can't even imagine not ending up in a farking brawl with someone who thinks that's an acceptable sacrifice. Never. fark supporting the 2nd amendment... tell me these sweet babies died in fear and got turned into farking hamburger is an acceptable outcome in order to uphold the rights of the second amendment and you better straight on your co pay and deductibles because I'm gonna try and tear chunks off your ass. I'm done.

The parents are now calling on legislators to ban AR-15 style weapons, even though Felix Rubio, an off-duty deputy sheriff, thinks his department will go against him for supporting gun restrictions.

This is what I don't understand. The cops shiat themselves from fear when they outnumbered the gunman 20:1. Why in the fark wouldn't they want restrictions even if it's only in their own self interest? They're really living up to their stereotype of stupidity.

Ok, let me boil this down for you.

Guns are a proxy for strength. People that "need" them feel weak and think guns will make them strong.

This dude knows his weak ass simp loser coward cop friends view it the same way and will see him as using his dead daughter as away to attack their strength.

That's it. That's the entire narrative. That's why every simp loser trump supporter with ED would rather be burned at the stake than be heard saying he doesn't support guns. Because he knows what the subtext is.

Moral upstanding God-fearing law-abiding hard-working tax-paying family-valuing holiday-loving patriotic reasonable ppl who own semi-automatics across the nation are shaking their damn heads at these parents. Obviously these are ppl who don't understand the various situations in which a semi-auto with a detachable mag that can fire 40 rounds a minute would be useful, even necessary, in everyday life, which is why broad access to these types of weapons needs to be preserved, EVEN IF someone with no felony record might also be able to purchase them. It's a terrible shame, a real shame, they'll say, that 17 children died like that, but these owners of semi-autos, & even those planning on purchasing such weapons that can fire 40 rounds a minute want you to rest assured that none of them are like that.

Republicans always claim that having more people with guns will solve the problem. They never consider that all the pro-gun messaging might be what encourages unhappy a**holes to use guns to "solve" their own problems.

Show one. ONE of these farking babies as they are... with a 223 that ripped through them and tore giant pieces out of them or obliterated them.

Show ONE farking photo. And you'll see REAL change happen.

You think the Emmit Till thing was a thing? Nah. Show a baby without a head because she stayed in school after her 4th grade honor roll ceremony and some fark head shot her in the face and her head basically exploded. Show that. See that. Imagine that. A farking 10yr old baby.

And then tell the world that's an acceptable cost so the companies selling this shiat won't have to layoff some people. See how fast the universe turns against you and tucker Carlson won't be able to save you. Watch.

If I were on the awful position of those parents, I'd be torn between telling him to fuq off up front and decline a meeting, or opt for a public meeting, and then tell him off in a manner that would make what Beto said look like a love letter.
