claytonemery: No matter what the hobby is, someone will pose, "How about we make it a sweaty painful gut-wrenching competition with some petty prize, but the real thrill will be getting to grind your opponents' faces in the dirt while shrieking, 'I am superior!'?"

IOW, no matter how simple, pleasant, friendly and fun an activity is, some jerks will make it a weapon.

Sounds like a lot of fun for the whole family. Or maybe not for the family. Maybe also not that much fun, after all.

Jigslamming - go to any lively Celtic music gig - the Pogues, Dropkick Murphys, the Corrs - and combine the horizontal movement of slam dancing with the vertical knees and elbows of the jig.  If you can't find a suitable concert, just go to O'Connor's Irish Pub or any suitable stripmall "Irish bar" and start Jigslamming to whatever's on the jukebox.
