Thanks, subs.

There was. In the back, the guy on the drums wearing a hat. He knows who he is. Jerk.

It would have been better if Gal Gadot and other celebrities sang it over the internet.

Yes.  That guy was cool.

Watched Studio 666 with the wife. It wasn't great but made much worse by knowing he was dead now.

He did more with his life than you probably ever will. How's that taste?

Dave played drums on the recording of that one. Small nitpick but that would be like honoring the passing of Dave Grohl by playing something off of Bleach.

That aside, very well done.

If he wasn't stealing to support a habit, abusive towards his family, or otherwise harmful to other people I can't crap on the guy.

We're honoring famous drug addicts who made people happy before ODing.  There's a difference.

If he were an unknown whose story somehow made it to Fark, he would either be mocked for his irresponsible behavior, or used as an example of how mental health care/addiction treatment is unavailable to the average person because our entire health care system is profit driven.

If you call yourself a rocker, and you shun the product of drug users, you're gonna be stuck with Stryper and Ted Nugent.

And they suck.

Excellent!! And not one drummer exploded

At least they could have played something WRITTEN for 1000 guitars. A classic Glen Branca symphony, for example.

Nice tribute. But previously working in an audio field, this has to be a nightmare to pull off.  Makes me think they only mic's maybe 3 drums guitars, etc. then just put dead ones infront of everyone else so they felt like they were contributing

Yes. Ones who have brought happiness and joy to thousands of people. Ones who take their wealth and spread among worthy causes. Like Taylor and Cystic Fibrosis.

. . .his nephew is autistic. Hawkins' side project, Chevy Metal, performed at benefits for autism groups.
Another organization Hawkins was involved in was Mauli Ola Foundation, which "was organized to educate, spread awareness and provide alternative therapies for genetic disorders, such as cystic fibrosis. MOF created on-site national support programs for kids and adults with life-threatening illnesses and disabilities. These on-site programs include surf experience days and children's hospital visits," said its website.
In a YouTube interview with Outside Magazine about his philanthropy and the foundation, Hawkins said "The world has given so much, blessed me so much with my career ... if all I have to do is show up, play the drums and raise some awareness and maybe raise a few bucks, spend a little time with some folks with autism or with Mauli Ola and cystic fibrosis, it's so worth it, such a good feeling to do that and so necessary."

And there are plenty of stories that came out after his death like this one:

I used to be a manager at a Guitar Center that was very close to the Foo's rehearsal studio. Dave and Taylor would come in all the time, either to pick up random supplies or just to hang out.
Grohl was a big goof, we gave him a name badge that said "David" and put him behind the counter to mess with people.
Taylor would slink off to the drum department and hang out with kids. Once I had to look up his account for some reason and noticed that he had thousands of dollars worth of charges for drum equipment, almost weekly. But I had never seen him leave with anything that major, so I went to my boss to raise concerns about potential fraud.
He told me that the guy basically never came in without buying something for a kid. What a class act.

COMALite J: What the heck's a "foo fighter"?

Not sure if you're serious but here you go:

The term foo fighter was used by Allied aircraft pilots during World War II to describe various UFOs or mysterious aerial phenomena seen in the skies over both the European and Pacific theaters of operations.

But what does that have to do with music?

I don't think you actually know what an OD really is. People OD on illegal and legal things every day, sometimes for multiple days in a row. Especially calories. If you were trying to say Hawkins was a worthless junkie, that wouldn't be accurate either. You're better than this post. I've seen it.
