Ways to die in the modern world:

1) Covid
2) Monkeypox
3) Nukes from Putin
4) Mutant zombie oxygen atoms

Frankly, I was happier when Nixon was in office.

Oh goody.  Ozone is binding with other elements and is going to kill us all because the planet always finds a way to fight back.

ROO + OH → ROOOH

Ruh-roh.

The specific trioxides they have detected - called hydrotrioxides (ROOOH) - are a completely new class of chemical compounds.

altogether.

When chemical compounds are oxidised in the atmosphere, they often react with OH radicals

Dammit, Ohio, why you gotta be so reactive?

common sense is an oxymoron: ROO + OH → ROOOH

Ruh-roh.

I smarted this but I felt bad doing it.

Isn't that just Ozone ?

BRING IT ON.

Those radicals have been known about for a while and they're so reactive they usually don't last more than a few seconds before they bump into something and decompose.

Peroxides are known to exist in the air surrounding us, and it was predicted that trioxides were probably in the atmosphere as well, but until now it has never been unequivocally proven.

Um, they have always been there. Proof of their existence, does not mean the end of our existence.

You forgot "going to school".

Nonsense. On Vulcan, Bones gave Kirk a Tri-ox compund to compensate for the atmosphere during Spock's Pon Farr. And I would still have Ston. Flawlessly logical.

Goddammit.

But I brought a picture.

But a story like that doesn't get the EVERYBODY PANIC clicks

We are getting Trioxin?  Like in the Return Of The Living Dead movies?  Do y'all think the flying cars will be next?

Clearly we all need more guns to protect ourselves from this evil.

It's the Mail. I don't even believe in dioxides now.

Someone who cares could research whether isoprene production in nature goes up as the weather goes above 100°F.   I read that trees actually produce a respiratory irritant when it gets hot in summer.  The lure of the shade is just a trap as trees move to feed on humans.
