still yet to try that, but quite curious. awhile back, one of our usual dives had it on their weekly specials menu, but they'd run out after only a few days :(

oh, lawd. when I was but a wee tintar, my cousin and I would try Tom Sawyer / Huck Finn -esque nonsense such as smoking: corn silk, maple leaves... cheetos...

mainly on boysprouts trips, 'cos we were generally-unsupervised and with ready access to firemaking implements.

Two kinds of vegan IMHO.  The ones who do it for ethical reasons and the ones who do it for health reasons.   There are shades of gray, sure, but the ones who do it for "health" reasons might miss pulled pork.

I usually buy Jufran hot banana sauce.  Mostly out of habit as that's the first one I had; same company makes another brand that I forget the name of.

It's dyed red, so it's not as obviously banana.  I also recommend storing it at room temperature as it gets pretty thick when chilled.

Your body makes cholesterol out of the food you eat, especially carbohydrates.  It would be worthwhile to try a low-carb experiment with Ms Baka and see where her numbers are in a few months.

I always get pissed off when people assume dietary cholesterol is the leading cause of bad body cholesterol.

It's farking stupid.

Ok not as stupid as a housemate telling me "meat is toxic" and he's gonna lose weight not eating meat.

Annnnd you're eating a family bag of doritos and a large cheese pizza... wtf?

Then again anyone telling me to substitute banana peels for pork products has a few screws that came lose and rattling around in their brain pan.

Our understanding of nutrition is evolving, and people don't take advanced biochem in high school.  It kind of makes sense that eating cholesterol would make your cholesterol high.  We were raised in a world where the sugar industry made sure that we would worry about fat.  https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/09/13/493739074/50-years-ago-sugar-industry-quietly-paid-scientists-to-point-blame-at-fat

But food is made out of molecular Legos* and our bodies take them apart and put them back together to fill whatever need there is at the moment.  If there's no pressing need, we pack those Legos away as fat blocks.

And if the banana peels taste good I'll eat them.  I doubt they taste like piggies tho.

*Yeah, yeah.  The plural of LEGO is LEGO.  Don't care.

Yeah yeah fat leads to fat, cholesterol leads to cholesterol this shiat was debunked forever ago.

Anyone that actually cares about nutrition or dietary health has all the information to access these days. It's not hard to parse out the bullshiat.

But then again i guess youre correct. you got idiots like said housemate telling me what's bad for me, trying to sell me supplements and getting more obese by the day, and I've told him "look at my body. Now look at yours. Really wanna discuss nutrition?"

A couple weeks ago he even asked me to open a jar for him. Wtff

OK.  People learn eating habits from their parents.  That's like saying being Lutheran is a genetic trait.  If you'd rather go vegetarian than experiment with not eating starch for a few months, that's your prerogative.

There is plenty of research that shows carbs raise cholesterol.  I can't make you read it tho.
