This sounds like it is popular in the South, bless their hearts.

We boil them.

Heathens!
Not in Coke. Peanuts go in RC soda or more properly Nehi Grape soda.
Respect your ancestors and quit thinking you have invented something.

BTW, Subby, there is no cup.

Did this growing up except with Pepsi because we weren't southern traitors. Used cocktail peanuts. My brother and I got our own whole bottles, those 16 oz monsters. And we didn't use a goddamn half bag of nuts, we got a handful.

This is one of the few really great memories of my childhood.

Nope, it was very popular at a foundry where I worked in the south and at School.
I think it get started at factories because you don't need to take your gloves off or wash your hands.

A bag of salted peanuts right in the coke BOTTLE. It was always a glass bottle.

6 oz coke and Tom's peanuts.  RC Cola goes with Moon Pies.(and Mabel on the hill)

New trend??? I grew up in Georgia. This was the way. As far back as the 1950s we've been doing this.

Georgia born and raised since 1971 on a cotton farm. Yes...everyone I knew did this. My grandparents, my parents, my parent's friends...everyone. This is not a new trend.  Yes, we boil peanuts...but green ones...not roasted ones. The roasted ones were for your cocola

Gawd I love boiled peanuts.  But I live in AZ now and it's really not a thing here.

2022-05-28 1:08:05 PM
Yeah, my dad did this all the time. He'd crack open a glass bottle, take a giant slug to make room, then pour the peanuts in. I've tried it, but don't like the texture. Same goes with boiled. It's like eating warm salt paste.

Green Patch canned boiled peanuts.

Simmer on low for about 30 minutes to achieve salty goodness instead of briney, sharp vinegar taste.

Huh.  I've never had them from a can.  Literally only in brown paper bags from gas stations.

However, I will try anything once.  Twice to make sure.

I guess it's fair to say The South is anything that was part of the Confederacy?  But that includes Texas, and Texas gets uppity if you say it's The South.

Nope. Since I bought this jar I toss 3 or 4 of these 100 proof bombs into the bottom of a glass before adding the drinkables. Might get the pineapple ones next time.  I foresee an attempt at a boozy pineapple upside down cake in my future.

It's an acceptable substitute, I can throw a rock and hit 6 different places that brown bag it but there's a certain someone who hates the way they smell in the bag and makes gagging noises, so when I get the craving I pick up a can.

They have a Cajun version, too.

KY is Midwest that thinks they're southern.

Also don't really count as they're a commonwealth. No wonder I never used my BS 🤔🤣

There's a small window of opportunity for buying real "Green Peanuts"
Late July....to just after Halloween.

The Publix here will sometimes have them, and the fresh market/veggie stand.
But they're a bit of a pain to do right....like LOTs AND LOTS of salt...boil soak dry...then roast. If you do it right...you'll have little salt crystals inside the shells after roasting.

It's much easier to get them at the green market/roadside stands. Where they make 50 gallon batches of them every day.

The canned ones are meh...and too slimy. And FU Spanish peanuts, trying to take our 'MERICAN peanut jobs.
USA USA.

Oh c'mon.....it's just 3-5 hours boilin' time and you can keep them in the fridge!

I wonder if you could freeze them? Eh, I don't want to try plus my freezer's full.
