Good. If the Grand Jury goes forward with these, maybe the Trumpers will just leave the Secretary of State blank in the general and we get a Democratic Secretary of State. I want Stacey Abrams, too, but the State A.G. and Secretary of State are nearly as important this year.

I still don't see why it's taking so long. That one phone call alone is proof of a crime. But, it is some significant movement at least.

So 18 months after a nationally televised phone call in which he flat and openly attempts to coerce a state official into forging election results, we have reached the stage where the executive board has convened a committee that is asking questions about said crime.

And we wonder why GQPer criminals act as if they have impunity? JFC.

from a leftist perspective, power structures are not going to hold themselves accountable for past issues like Trump, because future issues with people worse than Trump will require proactive action.

He will die before he faces any true consequences

Trump has found a weakness in our system.
I f you are really, really rich, and do not care about your reputation or legacy, you don't have to pay anybody or accept any penalties for anything.
And people are so thunderstruck, and intimidated, that ultimately they just do nothing.
He just doesn't show up.
He just doesn't answer the subpoena.
He just doesn't pay the invoice.
HE JUST DOESN'T - and nobody does anything, because the system has always really depended on the rich and powerful meeting most of their obligations, and maintaining their reputations.
Trump just doesn't acknowledge any of that, or interface with it on any level.
And no one knows quite what to do.
Yes, it is doomed to fail and he can't keep it up forever - but if he strokes out while he's ball's deep in Ivanka, with his whole empire collapsed and his family bankrupt - he still wins.

FTA: Fulton County investigators traveled to Washington, DC, earlier this month to meet with staffers for the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection to go over information that may be relevant to the Georgia probe, according to the person familiar with the investigation.

So let me get this straight. The committee is sharing information with a DA for a Georgia county but when DOJ asked for info, the committee told them to pound sand. What the hell is going on at the DOJ that Congress doesn't trust them?

/not sure if my question is sarcastic or serious

I didn't see the name but former US Prosecutor in Atlanta, Byung H. Pak, who was appointed by Trump and then promptly resigned a day after the call Trump made to Raffensperger should be subpoenaed. I've read that there was pressure on him to open an investigation on the election in Georgia and that could be the reason for the resignation.

Dude the REAL crimes are that foreign-backed assistance interfered with the 2016 election to give the impression that the GOP the won.

You have been provided real but intentionally fabricated evidence to have your attention drawn away from the above issue.

This Georgia 2020 elections shiat was a stunt done on purpose to try and publicly limit presidential powers, on blast, to the media.

If I learned anything in the last five years, it's that complying with subpoenas is optional. It's like someone asking you nicely to do something, but you say, "no, I'm good."

That at only works if you have money or political clout. Everyone else gets hit with contempt of court and is tossed in a cell until they comply.

It would be a shame, a damned shame, I tell you, if those six states Trump narrowly lost disqualified him and his surrogates from being on the 2024 ballot, on account of them trying to overturn the 2020 election.

the wheels of justice move slowly, and for reason. Look at what happens when charges and trials get rushed. They fail.

You'd think that if "ain't nothin' gonna happen" and "powerful people are above the law", this investigation wouldn't be happening. Why bother prosecuting? It's a waste of money with little upside, since your target is part of the shadowy cabal controlling everything and will walk away scot free. Why bother?

I await your rational explanation.

People don't understand the game Trump is playing, and why he is almost certain to win.
He is not interested in anything that happens to anybody but him, or that happens outside the timeline defined by his life.
If Trump drops dead ( as he almost certainly will) before his grifts and grafts catch up with him, he wins.
You have to look at it from his sociopathic toddler perspective.
He doesn't care that he will leave his family broke and in disgrace. They aren't him.
He doesn't care that he has destroyed his political party, and disgraced it's ideology. It's not him.
He doesn't care if he is held responsible for 100 rapes after he's dead. That's then, not now.
His only goal is to live out his years in the luxury and fawning that he is accustomed to - and if his whole empire caves in after him, he couldn't care less.
Trump's goals are actually quite base, shiatty, and easily achievable, and it is highly unllikely that he will fail to obtain them.
His only legacy will be one of failure - but he DOESN'T CARE - he'll be dead, and we'll be left to clean up his mess.

Isn't AG an elected position in many states?

"We did a little dance to fool you plebes into thinking justice applies to the rich" seems like a strange platform to run on.
