They make my blood boil.

Oh, please, like we can't see how this will play out. The Senate dithers for two days about passing the bills currently on their plate. Then goes on recess without passing anything. They pretend to negotiate, the media finds a new story and the pressure on the Senate goes away - even after a high profile mass shooting or two, with 7-8 that don't make headlines - and Republicans come back ossified against doing anything and Manchin and Sinema join them while Democrats say "oh well we tried and couldn't find a bipartisan solution."

Imagine those hands clapping emojis between each word here...

They are not centrists.

They will delay until the attention fades by pretending to negotiate, then vote against the deal they negotiated.

Until November... when we just need to win every D seat up AND add 2-3 more.

No biggie. Should be easy. *sigh*

Unless you start a Kickstarter or GoFund me, to raise more capital than their lobbiest don't expect shiat.

It's unsettling how comfortable we've gotten with open corruption.

Plus, those two know that any gun control measure will be challenged in the courts and struck down by SCOTUS. They have an ace in their pocket just in case any gun control measure is accidentally passed.

Don't worry I am sure another school shooting will be along shortly to remind them to get on with it.

Bingo.  Called it in the other thread.

THIS IS A STALL TACTIC.

There is no good faith negotiation on the table for the GOP and the DINOs.

Do it without them.  Lucy is not going to let you kick the football.

The last time the Dems put them in charge of writing a bill with republicans we got the trump tax cuts made permanent, infrastructure sold to private corporations and unaccountable corporate hand-outs.

Good luck.

In this day and age the warden from "Shawshank" would not have killed himself or even been charged with a crime.

I've said this many times before.  The ONLY way things will change is when the rich and powerful are murdered by the dozen multiple times a year.  When THAT and only THAT happens, THEN the laws will change.  Overnight.

2022-05-27 8:45:37 AM
I hate to say this, but we won't see anything happen with gun control unless a mass shooting happens in October right before an election.  The incumbents will be crapping their collective pants and the rage from the electorate will not have time to fade.

If only by some cosmic roll of the dice when it comes to random shootings that occur daily in the US, it's one of their close family members that end up a statistic over the holiday weekend.

And people said the same thing after Sandy Hook as well. Literally nothing has changed except there are even more guns on our streets and states and cities have even fewer ways to protect their residents from the gunfire. Soon they may have none; tell me you wouldn't be surprised by this SCOTUS foisting permitless carry on the nation.

Now it's up to their Republican colleagues to prove to the centrist pair that there's any middle ground.

LOL, solid analysis. Republicans are getting everything they want here and Senators Coal Barren and Quirky get to endlessly grandstand while nothing gets done.

This. Manchin and Sinema are Republican infiltrators, nothing more. They are as openly corrupt as any Republican, they campaign for Republicans, and they kiss the same donor asses as the Republicans.

They exist to give Democrats the illusion of a majority so Congress' inaction is blamed on the Democrats.

McConnell is likely going to let his members, at least 7 or so, vote for a revised Manchin-Toomey bill.

If they get to 60 I'll be surprised

Nah, it won't even happen then. Hell, after some dude shot up some Republicans playing baseball, they still opposed gun control.

This. The only thing that MIGHT change Republican minds is if gatherings of Republican politicians/donors started getting shot up, and even then, that's a big 'might'.

Changing their minds is useless. They need to have power stripped from them by any means necessary. Hell, just start prosecuting Republicans for corruption until Democrats have enough of a majority to kill the filibuster; God knows Republicans aren't exactly trying to hide their crimes.

Oh please. Did you see the complexion of the kids shot? That their parents are looking lower on the socio-economic scale? KING Manchin and QUEEN Sinema will cash a few checks, then jaw jaw about nothing, until the media coverage dies down... and finally it will die like everything else they are paid to kill. On the GOP side $usan Collins will furrow her brow with concern, like a few other "old-school" GOP that still feign poutrage. They'll do NOTHING, except take that special interest money, and you'll like it plebes,

I know the Senate is gridlocked because the GOP and DINOs.  I'm in every thread here talking about that even though the Megulls swarm in and disingenously paint the picture that Biden and all Dems are the same as Manchin and Sinema.

We have to do more at the local levels if the Federal system remains broken.  Push for strict laws in your state or county or township.  Move the action upward instead of waiting for it to trickle down.

And above all we have to make sure the GOP never has this kind of power again at any level.  That means getting out to vote in every election and making sure they don't win.

2022-05-27 9:23:08 AM
Well, shiat. Between those mfers and the SCOTUS, we're doomed to have a new massacre every couple weeks for the next couple decades, unless revulsion somehow kicks in and/or there's a mass rejection of conservativism.
