In the Steve Dangle video, go to 6:30 to see the goal/no-goal situation.

As I said last night, there is just the slightest motion with the foot towards the puck and that has to be why they called it no goal. As a neutral, I disagree with the call. I would've given the goal. But I can see why they made the decision to overturn it.

As much as I'd love the cup to sit up in the great white north.....

If they can get past the Avalanche, there aren't going to get past Tampa/Rangers

/my bet is Tampa but that Atlantic semi-final is going to be fun to watch.

I'm just not sure. Every so often we see someone just own the playoffs and hot streak gets the title. It could just be McDavids year where better teams on paper just can't stop him 4 times.

"Distinct kicking motion" doesn't mean anything and maybe they'd be better off just allowing kicked pucks or not allowing any puck off a skate.

This one's close. I kinda feel like he slide tacked the puck? Like he's definitely going in skate first, but he didn't really "kick" so much as slide.

I want to say no goal, but I've seen iffier ones allowed.

Well. My bracket is toast. Only one I got correct in this round was Colorado.

Thanks, I actually came to this thread because I was only able to watch the final moments of the game and the commentators were going on about it.

This angle is probably the best for arguing no goal:

As a Flames fan, this sucks. But it was certainly foreseeable.

Wait, patriotic Albertan + Go Riders? *Does Not Compute*

I also thought the call to overturn the Calgary goal was brutal. I didn't care who won that series, but that is a crap way for it to end.

Ah but like many Albertans I am a transplant from Saskatchewan. So hell will freeze over before I cheer for the Stamps or Elks.

lol east coast hockey is like watching paint dry. The Rangers and Lightning are fawking SLOW. Contrast that with the speed of CGY or COL and it's just sad to watch.

Having said that....bummed for my Flames. Was really wanting COL-CGY Western. Fawking Marky. Hopefully CGY will sign a goalie next year.

From that angle it looks like there was a kicking motion.  It happens pretty fast, but the player's weight seems to be on the right foot, and the left comes over to tap it in.  Weird motion, weird call.

In any event, the Flames had a 2+ goal lead at home in every game this series and the Oil came back to tie or win them all.  They sucked when they played in Edmonton.  This goal isn't why they lost the series.  The Oilers outplayed them.

Surprised no one said it was going in anyway. Yes probably, but an illegal touch robs the defense of a chance to play a slow moving puck (in general).

Vezina candidate guy already in your crease. Sure Vegas would appreciate tossing Lehner for a more reliable, mentally focused, healthy goalie. Not like they haven't done that before.

The kick was blatant.  He moved his left foot all the way across in front of his right foot while intently staring right at the puck and used the side of his blade to push the puck in.. If he was just skating or gliding by his left foot wouldn't have come anywhere near the puck.  He knew precisely what he was doing.

\ I am a neutral observer - Leafs fan <ducks frantically>...
\\ I enjoy watching McDavid who is clearly the best player in the world.
\\\  or /// I can't decide...
