Yeah, but what doesn't look better than the last couple seasons of Game of Thrones? I mean, I don't think the bar really goes much lower than that. That's basically Walking Dead territory.

That Lucasfilm intellectual property needs to be put to use, somehow.   They spent 4.5 billion on it.... they are probably around break even point, 10 years later.

GoT didn't pull it's punches. i can't imaging Disney+ going there.

*raises hand*

Willow was good fun. Just a solid, enjoyable fantasy adventure that neither took itself too seriously nor treated the genre like farce.

And more Warrick Davis is always a good thing. That man is a treasure.

Yeah, but GOT didn't land its punches either.

That last season it just sort of flailed around wildly shouting "biatches be crazy!!" over and over and then passed out.

Rumor has it he has a "role" to play of some sort.  The showrunners have made it really clear they don't want to recast him, but they also want to try to get him involved somehow.

The Force Awakens alone earned 2 billion + *just* in worldwide box office receipts. That's not including streaming and sales. The Last Jedi was 1.3 billion, again not including sales and streaming.
I think they made a wise investment and cleared the original outlay long ago.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the 2 main issues are...

1) the pay rate his agent is asking for
2) his physical condition

Haven't seen Maverick, but I think 2 isn't as much of an issue now.

you'd have to chop each of those numbers in half.... as theaters get half of receipts, not to mention the 200 million they spent to make the darn thing, and all the marketing.

Uhhh...you remember the 1st Christmas after Lucasfilm was purchased?  All of the Star Wars merchandising suddenly everywhere?  I do.

Remember, Lucas took 45% of the $4 billion in stock.  Disney shelled out $2.2 Billion in actual cash, and probably made it back that Christmas.

Yeah you're right, Star Wars is unprofitable. Avatar is too, no one will see it. Disney is doomed because of this IP everyone hates

One of the reasons the last 2 seasons of GoT were bad is because they did start pulling their punches. Most of the characters should have died during the Battle of Winterfell, but they miraculously survived due to the miracle of "cutting away".

I did not get past the first part of that book.

Sometimes an artist is pressed to make something they don't want to make so they deliberately make it horrible as an FU to the company making them do it.

Wicked: Son of a witch and the latest matrix movie probably belong in this category.

I would have included Harry Potter cursed child but I think that's just The author ran out of good ideas.

The trailer looks absolutely perfect!

But the lack of Madmartigan hurts my heart. For the young preschooler that I was at the time, Val was the image of masculinity to me. And he played it so flawlessly.

I'm hopeful that the dude with the fancy sword is his son.  There's a good character arc there about stepping out of his legendary fathers shadow.

Is it bad? I picked up the books to finally finish the series. When Jordan was alive and still writing, I would preorder the hardbacks so I could read them day 1. Ok some of the books inthe series were a tough read at times, but kept hoping that the quality would get back to "The Dragon Reborn". I think the last few that Jordan wrote were getting there. If Jordan had not gotten sick, I'm sure it would have ended up being 20 books with so many story lines to bring together, and you know he would have kept introducing  more characters.

Recently picked up my copy of "The Eye of the World" to start reading the series again.

It's a tire fire. Not from the casting or anything like that, the showrunner and writers just can't get it right except in dribs and drabs.
