But aren't corporate profits soaring fellow citizens?

Turns out when you f*ck around with a pandemic, you find out by having long-term economic problems. Who'd have thought?

It's hard to buy more when the rent sucks up everything.

If by "farking around with the pandemic" you are referring to businesses being ordered to close by the government. The top down one size fits all approach to the pandemic is responsible for our current shiatshow. Not everyone was at the same risk of Covid but we were forbidden to say that. Instead we were all ordered to act like Covid was a farking death sentence for everyone.
When you shutdown the entire economy you'd have to be a total moron to not expect some serious knock-on economic effects. Fortunately wealthy investors will once again enjoy a buying spree as the rest of us sell-off our stocks and investments to survive. If one were into conspiracies you'd almost think the entire pandemic response was engineered to make some important people a whole lot of money.

I mean, 20% of people who were infected ending up with long-term symptoms is a hell of a lot of people who could very well not be able to work in the same capacity as before. What could possibly go wrong?

/already suspects a significant part of the labor shortage is due to Long Covid.

Well I can totally understand the economic contraction.  I mean both sales volumes and prices of rtx 3080s is completely down.  But I don't see any of this "inflation" people talk about.  Going from $2k/card to around $900 a card isn't inflation, it's deflation!

/This post is not made in any seriousness, but then again, this is fark

I read the study your link linked to and the list of what counts as a post  Covid symptom runs to nearly  a thousand possible conditions and includes everything from low self-esteem to an aneurysm and the study doesn't even say that there is a definitive link. How concerned should I be that 1/5 Covid survivors might have low self-esteem?

Are you sure you read the same study I did? Many of the symptoms they specifically call out seem pretty serious to me, like, you know, farking heart failure.

/not that mental health concerns aren't serious, of course.

Don't bother; deniers are going to keep up with that strawman argument to downplay long covid for *ever*.

Lexx: Don't bother; deniers are going to keep up with that strawman argument to downplay long covid for *ever*.

Because nobody knows if it even exists. The term itself was coined by a patient advocacy group that upon testing found out that many of the people had never even actually had Covid.

Here's a  recent  NPR article on the results of an NIH study showing that there is no physical reason yet found for "long Covid".

An extensive medical evaluation failed to reveal a cause for these persistent symptoms in most cases," Dr. Michael Sneller, an infectious disease specialist, who led the study, told NPR.
"We were not able to find evidence of the virus persisting or hiding out in the body. We also did not find evidence that the immune system was overactive or malfunctioning in a way that would produce injury to major organs in the body,

The most plausible theories are that the symptoms are the lingering  effects of medication or medical intervention to treat Covid or just anxiety in anxious people. Take enough  people and hand them a survey to check off medical issues and you are going  to find people with medical issues but that doesn't mean their issues  are related.

Covid. It's just covid. Nothing convoluted or surprising about what we have seen as the pandemic unfolded. SARS-1 was capable of all of this. It's what coronavirus does.

Stop lying to yourself.

Are you under the impression that I run the NIH? Because I don't. They were the ones that ran a study that found no evidence for long covid. It's currently self-reported and diagnosed and it's people online driving this whole thing it is basically the Slender Man of diseases people online say it is exists so it must exist and the researchers are trying to find it simply because people say it exists.

Funny how trust the experts goes out the window the second the experts suggest something contrary to your own beliefs.
