I'm sorry I had to link to another website that gives you the Epic link but Fark's server won't accept the Epic link as a submission. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I played a mix of things this week.

I've been playing some CK III. Basically, here is a synopsis of what happened:

The pope comes to me and says "Hey, you've got concubines and are making us look bad. You're Catholic first and Celtic second."

Me: "Uh... I'm Celtic first and Catholic second. I'm keeping them. Fark you."

So now I'm -300 on piety, and considered a sinner, and people like me less. (-15 I believe).

My wife and concubines have been popping kids out like candy, I gained the trait obese, and now I may have to join a war. *sighs*

Oh, and some moron tried to raid me with 300 people. I sent my 1,500 strong army over there, obliterated them, chased the remaining soldiers into my neighbour's land, and finished them off.

Finished GotG. The game itself is pretty meh but it's elevated by great writing and voice acting. Plus it just looks really cool.

Right now I'm casually working on Immortals: Fenyx Rising.

I also started up Yakuza 0 again. I enjoy this game but good god there's just so much text. So. Much. Text. I'll sit down to play for 45 minutes and during this time I MIGHT complete one side mission where I don't even get to do much more than press A to advance the dialogue. When I actually get to play the game it's enjoyable and some of the mini games are fun.

I'm thinking about buying Yakuza Like a Dragon, because it's on sale right now and I've had a rough week. I need a pick me up.

Picked up The King of Fighters XV for my PS4.  Haven't had much time with it but what little I played impressed me.  I haven't really been into a KoF since The King of Fighters 98 but this one grabbed my attention with its gameplay.  Some of my favorite characters are still MIA (come on SNK, I can't be the only person in the world that loves the USA Sports Team!) but I do like this roster.  I'm Critical_Will on PSN if anyone wants to beat me up (in the game.  In real life the line is too long.)

Does anyone play Depth, the divers vs. sharks game on PC?  I'm looking for people to play it with.  Doesn't have to be competitive.  I'm good with co-op vs. the AI.  My steam name is Madstand if anybody is interested.

Best crossover game?  That's easy - Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.  For a rushed, haphazardly put-together game MvC2 is an absolutely incredible game.  The over-the-top gameplay.  The huge cast of characters, every character from all the MvC games.  The completely out of place jazz music soundtrack.  The game is over 20 years old and is STILL one of the most popular fighting games around.  MvC2 is a huge draw at any tournament.  A truly fantastic crossover game.

I also finished Guardians of the Galaxy. I will repeat what Shostie said above; gameplay is not very engaging, but the story, graphics and voice acting are.  Worth a play if you like the characters and want a relaxed movie-like game.

I then started a couple other gamepass games:

Evil Genius 2: base building game where you try to take over the world.  Its ok, but not a home run.

Hardspace Shipbreaker : A work simulator where you break down spaceships in zero G.  One of those games why you can't really explain why it's fun, but it is anyways.  This one will probably occupy my weekend.  I still have a billion dollar debt to pay down....

I've also been playing Wasteland 2 and, holy hell, the second area is a complete and utter kick in the groin difficulty-wise compared to the first area. Good grief.

We've managed to get some better weapons and we're doing better now but good grief. We had a hell of a time doing a certain fight (I don't want to spoil) despite being level 30+ each.

BEHOLD! The Mahi-mahi model!

I think what makes it such a rare fish is that you can only catch it at the end of the pier. The barreleye and stringfish seemed more difficult.

I also got Bob and Raymond's photos this past week.

I haven't played that in forever.

I reached a point where I was getting constantly beaten to death by androids and then I gave up.

It's really fun and well made, just brutally difficult on the normal setting.

Well, somehow Fark ate my previously typed out comment, so here is the short version:

New this week: V Uprising
Still need to work on from last week: Borderlands 3

QoTW: Any of the Capcom vs Marvel titles

Now to solve why I can't highlight anything with my mouse without it moving it around, highlighting sections I don't want or just not doing what I want. It really got bad last week & is getting worse....ideas?

It's old enough to start having a few issues but I think it's OK for now. It's just a standard 2 button one that shipped with the old Gateway computers. As far as accessibility, nothing extra is turned on. I am leaning toward it being a human/machine interface issue (operator error). I just don't know how/why I am having a problem working it as I've been using this mouse for years (the PC in question dad's old one that I haven't replaced with one of mine). I just can't nail down why it's happening & how to "fix" it.

(not above blaming the computer though....)

they seem to make the classes be difficulty levels, and that's almost English.
I'm liking the Beast master.
I bought 1 and 2 and when 3 came out, I didn't have a computer that ran it.

Are you enjoying V Rising? I haven't played it in any multiplayer form, just putzing around and trying it out. I think there's a decent core game there, and the feel is very nice. But I was a huge Bloodline: Champions and Battlerite fan, so I know their core mechanics are going to be solid.

Played a bit of Lego: The Skywalker Saga last night and did a couple of Hades runs earlier in the week. Finally got one of Skelly's prizes. Woot.

In D&D, the party decided to rest in the hunting lodge, so they were captured and brought up to the cult leader running said lodge. The newer players (my kids) actually decided to negotiate but, to teach them a lesson, the older players started a fight that summons the entirety of the lodge to the master's defense. Only the Ranger cast spike growth so all 24 kolbolds wound up dying before getting to anyone and the other big bad got tangled in vines and never got to attack. Now it's off to the flying castle!

QOTW: Mario + Rabbids is more fun than it deserves to be. Just wish it didn't support Ubisoft.

Finished Trails of Cold Steel 4 last weekend, and I needed a "break" game before starting another big super-long thing, so I started Guardians of the Galaxy.  Add me to the list of people saying "the gameplay is okay, but the story and characters definitely carry it."

Played:
FTL -Finally beat the game with the Engi Cruiser, crushed the end boss and barely got hurt.
Turbo Overkill - Pretty fun, but almost TOO fast. It's like original DOOM guy is on crack.
Serious Sam 4 - Been jumping back into this and enjoying it.
Baldur's Gate II - Beat the keep, got the keep, just killed a bunch of Ogre's that were actually Paladins.

Best Crossover?

Been playing vampire Survivors, trying to unlock everything.

Which is mostly an experience of a golden run here or there lost in a sea of runs that end in me yelling "FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK!" or "FARK!" while my cat looks at me quizzically.

Granted in all video games where he jumps up on the computer desk and contributes to my loss I tell him in a calm reassuring voice "You know this is at least partially your fault you know"

I feel the associated petting and calm voice combined with the expected lack of understanding English is causing said cat to not realize how often he contributes to my defeat.

Now that Hardspace has reached its 1.00 release its probably time for me to go back and go through the whole thing.  It is oddly relaxing and I'm generally a pretty safe ship cutter.   Only on rare occasion have I cut something not understanding what it was and blown the ship I was working on the hell up.  (Usually the mistake I make is accidentally depressurizing something that least to a grand sequence of escalating problems)

Still having fun with a run on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (not the re-release, the original) on my PS3. Doesn't matter that I've specialized in the combined Might/Finesse/Sorcery build. I'm spamming spells, keeping distance with chakrams and finishing with longswords, I don't even need to heal anymore. I'm OP as hell and I love it, a great way to decompress from a week where I actually feel weak and powerless (that I won't go into, that's what the PolTab is for).

Got to agree with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for best crossover (but only because I've never been able to play any Super Robot Wars game), although I would put in SNK crossovers if only to hear Iori Yagami laughing at a downed opponent.

I've never enjoyed the Borderlands games.  I always found the pace to be too frenetic, the difficulty too high (I'm seriously terrible at shooters), and I had zero interest in the whole post-apocalyptic setting.  As a result, I had completely ignored Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, as I thought it was just another entry in the series.   A guy in my D&D groups suggested I give it a look, and watching the trailer was one of the few times I have literally LOL'd over a game ("Queen Butt Stallion!").  I had a couple coupons for the Epic store, so I figured "what the hell".

I don't know if it's simply a change of setting, or they adjusted the difficulty, or what, I'm absolutely loving this game.  The writing is stellar, the gameplay is fun but not horribly difficult, leveling and loot have been interesting, and it's just been a great experience all around.  Big thumbs up go out to whoever wrote the quest about the metal band.  I about spit out my drink when my character quipped "Roots.  Bloody roots." while chopping up a literal bleeding tree to get branches for a black metal band's outfit.  it was brilliant.

I'm about halfway through Horizon Forbidden West as well, but it's on hold until I wrap up Tiny Tina's.  Funny that both games I'm currently playing have Ashley Burch as the lead.  She's an amazing voice actor.

I still have Bardsung on the tabletop, and am enjoying it.  At it's core, it's simply a bigger version of the D&D Adventure Series, but that's not a bad thing.  I've always enjoyed dice chucking, and the layers of story and character building they put on it are pretty interesting.

2022-05-27 10:47:02 AM
Played through Citizen Sleeper since it was on Game Pass.  Kind of an oddball narrative driven cyberpunk game using dice rolls for actions- I'm kind of at a loss to describe it since it's not like anything else I've played.  Interesting storyline- it's not long (I finished it in an afternoon and pretty much 100%'d it) but it's worth a look if you want to try something offbeat

Was gonna mention this one. I started playing this a couple weeks ago and have been having a lot of fun with it. Took my Switch with me for the flight to/from Italy and spent the majority of the flights playing. Good times.

Also played another case in Phoenix Wright (fun but can be slow), got in a few runs of Streets of Rogue (had a lot of fun playing as Doctor and trying to go kill-free, delivery guy is too slippery to control but I made it further than I had before), and started up Little Nightmares (sufficiently creepy but haven't been fully hooked yet).
