Well, they're not wrong.

And like, I say that as a bad thing. People invest way too much stock into the words of rich assholes, as Elon Musk is the new poster child of inexplicably failing upward despite contributing nothing to society and poisoning everything he touches, because he's wealthy enough that investors will continually throw money at him no matter what.

At the very least, we can rest assured that he cannot become president.

... At least, not under normal circumstances.

If you're a thinking American, why in the world would you want your money to support an attention-seeking numbnuts like this, a guy snuffling dictators like Xi and supporting authoritarians across the planet?

I'd rather ensure my money went to building better cars. Toyota, Ford, GM, not to mention a few newcomers, have caught up to Tesla. Their quality is better, and their technology is better and more forward-looking.

There's nothing special about Musk's cars, and they're ugly as hell.

FTFA: ""I strongly believe that the right to bear arms is an important safeguard against potential tyranny of government. Historically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power did not allow public ownership of guns," Musk told CNBC on May 25."

Well if the problem is solved and the plebeians quit killing each other, they might then focus on other solutions such as the 1% paying their fair share. It helps the wealthy elite and CEO's maintain their power over the people. The government does not want to control the people by authoritarian force, if ran correctly the government wants to regulate corporations and tax the 1% for their fair. This is why people like Elon Musk want to push their false "freedom" narrative, so they can maintain their power and avoid the responsibility which comes with their wealth.

The billionaire then told the outlet that he supports "tight background checks" for all gun sales and limiting sales of assault weapons to people in special circumstances, like gun range owners, or people who live in a "high risk location, like gang warfare."

Ah, yes, let's introduce the "gang warfare loophole." Gets them every time.

When they tax rich people with a Brillo pad on a stick type shlacking I'll be happy. Till then those people who make more in a day then most people do in their life times can jump in a lake. I don't believe a single one of them live in anything but a reality of their own making which makes them oblivious to everything else in the world.

That people consider him influential, that this con artist has any influence is the same reason we get losers like TFG to become President. Mass population no longer willing or capable of critical thinking, but rather adults with the maturity of children

And our news media is mostly to blame for this, they would rather report fluff pieces on this fraud than actually report what a fraud this loser has been is whole career.

I don't know. I mean there was the time back in the innocent, halcyon days of the mid-oughts when some GOPers were talking about workarounds to get 'The Governator' on a presidential path.

I do concede that was a much different time, though.

Something that was pointed out to me that makes a lot of sense is that Musk offers a (bullshiat scam) vision of the future, whereas basically everyone talks about trying to fix the present, looking back at an idealized past with nostalgia and wanting to go back to that, or Armageddon.

Theory is that a not insignificant number of Elons cult of personality is there because they'd freak out over the future  without him there trying to reinvent public transportation by making it worse.

The 2nd amendment existing to depose tyranny is the most basic-biatch excuse. Like, biatch, America's aways been tyrannical, and we can't so much as do chalk drawings outside a Supreme Court justuce's house without people being like "woah now! This is going to far!"

he supports "tight background checks" for all gun sales and limiting sales of assault weapons to people in special circumstances, like gun range owners, or people who live in a "high risk location, like gang warfare."

I read this and thought "Why is he proposing this comically unworkable idea?"  He had to time to sit and think about this, and this was his solution?  How does determining high risk locations work?  How do laws get enacted and suspended federally based on that?

Then I remembered that I've just watched a month of Republican primary ads that would not stop talking about gangs and how gangs were everywhere and gangs were coming to get me.  You ask yourself how gangs are a concern for Republican voters who primarily live in the exurbs and beyond.  They aren't.  It's just shorthand for black people.  That's what Elon is doing here.  He's been watching Tucker.

AR-15s for people who live in a high risk locations like gang warfare? WTF fantasy world is he living in?  "Gang warfare" 1) isn't a location and 2) doesn't work in any way such that having an AR-15 would be useful.  What, are you going to be walking around with it strapped to your back hoping to intervene in a drive-by?
