We either stop this now, or we're in for a real farking ride.

2022-05-25 9:00:39 PM
No thanks, we already have more tanks then we need. We just keep putting them in the desert somewhere.

*Checks article* Oh, not literally what the headline said. Okay.

There are more guns in this country than there are people. There always have been. However you feel about that fact, you can acknowledge that you will never get rid of all of those guns. The Constitution prohibits that and you would set off a civil war if you try to do it.

Sure. But... "There's lots of guns" is a really bad argument for why we shouldn't try to reduce the number of guns, and considering the SCOTUS just found that you don't actually have a right to effective counsel the whole "Constitution prohibits that" point falls a bit flat, so you're left with threatening civil war. And, let's be honest, we're already suffering casualties from the fight without fighting it.

Hey, Tucker, did you know that the NRA Convention is going to frisk all you motherf*ckers because they don't want y'all chowderheads to have any guns while the important people are around?

Of course you do, because you don't trust these ratf*ckers any more than Donnie or Caroline Meadows or Wayne LePierre does.

There's a shortage of building materials, a housing crisis, a homelessness crisis, and you know what? All that premium gun metal sounds like it would be perfect to melt down and use for ibeams and composites.

So yeah, we won't get rid of all those guns. Why would we when we can simply recycle them into something useful?

Maybe we just need to keep the guns away from violent, sociopathic smoothbrains without a working moral center in their heads. So basically normal humans can have guns but right wingers can't.

It's crystal clear to me now.

They need guns to prevent tyranny.
You know what "tyranny" is now? More people voting for the other guy. "Tyranny" is something you're promoting by spring the wrong side.

They have given themselves permission to kill to protect democracy and they have been stockpiling firepower to do it. All they need is some orange idiot or Fox News anchor to point out that an election is being stolen or the country is being subverted, and.... well....

It's already here. They've already taken over our country without firing too many shots. Taking it back from them will be a lot more messy.

Federal buyback program will reduce gun inventory quietly without the perception of government tyranny, reduce access, and reduce opportunity for people to kill other people easily.

"There are more guns in this country than there are people" is a dumb threat.  Who, exactly, is going to wield these excess guns?  Is he expecting everyone to go guns akimbo with AR-15s?  Does he think everyone has prehensile feet like chimps?  Are they going to strap three dozen guns to their back RPG-style?

I mean, it's Tucker, I don't expect anything out of his mouth that wouldn't be said by a four-year-old, but that's dumb even for him.

Honestly, we don't need the excess metal. Any day now, the Supreme Court will finally read Mike Lindell's proof. And when they do, they are going to melt down all the voting machines. Metal shortage solved.

A civil war in the US will look a lot like the Russian offensive in Ukraine. Pickup trucks loaded with assault rifle toting rednecks will be the convoys that Stinger and Javelin missiles eat for breakfast. Now calm down and take your blood thinners and insulin shots, Bubba.

This civil war stuff is such bullshiat. The anti-government side is equipped with not much more than rifles. The guvmint has brrrrttt, nukes, unlimted ammo, spy satellites, etc. The fantasy of holding off/overthrowing your own government via 2A are LONG gone.

Why not cut the BS rhetoric and find some solutions here?

Well, until a couple of years from now where the government AND the Cletuses are on the same side and coming for your children....

The problem is that the human mind is much more complex and harder to control than we like to admit. A person who is intent on committing violence is very hard to stop under any circumstances. An act of Congress isn't going to do it. Neither will gun control.

I have a solution.

Look at what other countries do, and copy them. Because they have comparatively identical societies, with the same ratios of crazy/desperate/mentally ill people, and exposed to the same toxic violence.

But they don't have mass shootings on a weekly basis. So look at what they do to prevent them, and then adopt those measures.

I bet Tucker Carlson is too afraid to pay a woman to eat his cak. I bet he thinks about it, but he is too afraid to offer the money. I bet he's asked his wife or gf a few times and made it sound like a joke because he is too afraid to really find out how rich or powerful he really is.

This is the right's desperation move because they have no cover now. Cops didn't stop the shooter, they stopped parents from helping. The "good guy with a gun" narrative is sh*tcanned now, and it's on glorious 1080p camera phone footage for everyone to see. That's why FIFTY different solutions came out of Fox News in the last 24 hours.

They're scared. They know that they have nothing to stand on.

Repeal the second amendment. Round up all of the guns that you can. You don't have to get them all, you just have to try to get them all. Imagine 50% fewer guns in America. Think of how the suicides and murders would plummet! That's what happened in Australia. Why not here?

If we don't do anything now, and, to be clear, I don't think that we ultimately will - then we're cowards. We're a nation of chickensh*ts.

The usual herpaderp response to this is 'but those countries are ethnically homogeneous' (white) and when the red flag of subtle racism has distracted you, they go off on a tangent.

Especially because literally half the guns are owned by 2% of the population

You have a few people who own a ton of guns. The idea that these idiots can use their hunting rifles and desert eagles to take out natguard air cavalry?

1. That your side sabotages efforts to deal with the problem isn't evidence that it can't be solved.
2. There were not always more guns than people, that's idiotic nonsense.
3. Every other civilized country manages to do it.
4. The Constitution prohibiting it is a reason to change the Constitution, not to give up.
5. Most gun control steps are supported by a large majority, including gun owners.  Your vocal minority of lunatics who need 10 assault rifles to feel manly won't start a civil war, they'll sit in their bunkers shivering in terror like the cowards they are.
