Weird Tales and Weird Al are two separate worlds of weirdness.

Have we entered the "milking the Weird Al catalogue with every angle that we can" phase of Al's career?

Might as well.  He's done making albums and only periodically makes one-off songs anymore.

Dude's earned a chance to take a break and cash in, though.  More power to him.

I own a lot of CDs. For you younger readers, CDs were a recording medium for digital music. They were round discs about 5" across with a hole in the middle, and most of them only had music recorded on one side, leaving the other side available for text or graphics.

Out of the thousands of CDs I've seen, some of Weird Al's CDs had the most imaginative graphics.

My point is, even if he doesn't draw the graphic novel himself, Weird Al has an eye for graphic composition. If he has any creative control, it will probably be pretty cool.

I don't know about all the artists lined up, but the peeps that worked on Hate, Superjail!, and Legal Action Comics are all pretty excellent. So combined with Al's aesthetic high hopes I think.
