Good! And well done to all!

These cheap and reusable rockets and capules will be invaluable in the future.

SpaceX launched a rocket today. It landed back at the launch site. It was pretty cool. There was no thread, but that's ok. I watched it by myself.

Nifty. The descent burn starts at 18:58 and it lands less than two minutes later.

I'm still looking forward to a Dragon making a Super-Draco landing on dry land.  NASA refused to allow them, but who knows.

Then ho oversees. Paint a big American flag on it and land it in Moscow.

Probably because NASA trusted parachutes more.

Back in the day, you'd drive by this V2 while passing Ft. Bliss in El Paso, with White Sands Missile Range just a conversation away.

Back then you could rent a surf board to surf the high dunes at White Sands national park.

Won't happen.  SpaceX is done building Dragons- they'll refurbish them as needed but there aren't any more in the pipeline.  SpaceX is putting all their efforts into Starship.

I used to work at White Sands.  It is a really cool place.  But you can get super lost if you go wandering around.  The landscape has no....it farks up your perception.  It's really hilly but you can't tell, because everything is just shining white.  You turn around and you can't see a thing except the hill you just walked down and didn't realize it.
A guy got lost  while I was there.  But he was fine overnight, and they found him the next morning.

Considering how Boeing has done, I'm surprised the headline isn't, Starliner Becomes White Sand.

C'mon, that's in the middle of New York.

Thise poor Space Camp kids that got launched on Atlantis in 1986 made the same mistake.

Oh, and all that being said, White Plains airport is kind of nice. It's got a lot of brick and has an almost castle like feeling when you go from the jetbridge to the area before the gate itself. I would say get your coffee at the cute little locally run place before security, but security is often so quick, you wouldn't have time to finish it before having to toss it.

I'm not too worried about Boeing.  They're a big company that's risk averse. How they're approaching this is very traditional.  And they'll be the only game in town when Space X kills a bunch of people -- because we know that's gonna happen right?

And Starship looks more like Cybertruck everyday.  They've clearly run into some serious technical problems after a flurry of activity.

And the guy who knew what he was doing at Space X, Tom Mueller, retired in 2020.  So I don't think this is a coincidence.

I wonder where they were supposed to land...

Back in the day?  Is that V2 still not in place?
