Not that Elden Ring isn't absurdly popular, but people don't actually think he's playing it, do they? He's a personality cult leader and he has to be seen doing this.

That is exactly why I have never played a Dark Souls game and never will. Was looking at getting it, and the guy at the counter said "Yeah, if you liked Dark Souls, you'll love this." That's when I said nope, and put it down.

I play games to have fun. Not to encounter death after death after death because I don't have split second timing and have no expectation of beating any boss the 1st time because I need to keep dying until I memorize its unique attack pattern.

I don't mind challenge, I just want a fair challenge. And when you can loose all the shiat you've spent the last hour grind for permanently because of one mistake and can't reload a prior save, that's not for me.

But that's me. I understand some people love that.  The brutal challenge and heavily punished failures is enjoyable to them. Everyone likes different things.  Like they people who enjoy this

Elden Ring is not like that, at all. You rarely, if ever, lose an hour of progress and there are a multitude of ways to make a vast majority of the game way more manageable if not trivial. It is, by far, the easiest Souls game. It's also the best and most enjoyable Souls game. I have 100 hours into it so far and I have yet to be bored or wondering when I will get to the end. It's fantastic. Give it a good shot and you won't disappointed.

I gave it a good shot, and was disappointed.

I played DS3 a lot over a couple years, finished it 3 times but played 80% of it to death. It was great and I still think it is great in retrospect and can imagine picking it up again someday.  Elden ring is fine, but something is missing.  I tried 3 different builds but at one point came to the conclusion that for me it was mostly a boring grind that discouraged social play.  My kids played DS3 more than I did and came close to 100%, and also played through Bloodborne several times.  We all got Elden Ring at launch and nobody is playing it now.

I appreciate that drewsclues enjoys Elden Ring, and maybe for them it's a perfect fit, but MythDragon is likely correct in their personal assessment.

I have a friend who got paid $1,000 to kick a guy in the balls as many times as he requested over the course of an hour. I can get a lot, I don't get being kicked in the balls to the point of puking.

If you think Fromsoft games aren't fair then you don't actually know anything about them. The whole point is that they are difficult but fair; the enemies have a certain limited amount of moves they make, and if you learn them you can beat them. And of course, if you suck at the game there's always jolly cooperation to help out.

Yep. His arena is filled with summon signs. It's designed to be a many-against-one battle (and there are NPC story ties to the fight as well).

You can hit him with Scarlet Rot and fark off to the other side of the map while his health bar disappears.Just reapply after phase 2. Defeating Radon pre nerf isn't the big flex players think.

Work smarter, not harder.

I've watched people on Youtube spend hours / hundreds of attempts trying to defeat a single boss. I have no idea why some people find that enjoyable.

But then again, I hate boss battles in general. I wish games had the option to just skip them. I tried playing Shadow of the Colossus once, and gave up without even beating the first colossus. I just watched somebody else play it on Youtube.

Most of those players that spend that much time on a boss are either intentionally or unaware they are gimping themselves in some way.

The usual is not enough health. There is a lot of splash damage in this game compared to older From Soft games. It doesn't matter how much damage you do if the boss can 1 or 2 shot you.

Elden Ring has sooo many options to cheese a boss out of you can't "beat him legit" and that's been some what of a staple for these games. A win is a win. If you can do it with a guitar hero controller at lvl 1? Cool, I did it by using an item that stun locked the boss and took me 3 mins. We both beat the boss.

Why is it unfair that you lose to someone who is supposed to be a demi-god and you have no idea what they are likely to do in battle?

exactly, there's no reason to get "stuck" on a boss for hours. If you don't think you can get it done after 2-3 attempts, then just go somewhere else and do a quest, clear a dungeon, pick up a couple level. IF you remember to return to the boss, (LOL, sorry for forgetting about you until level 93 Leonine Misbegotten), then you'll almost certainly stand a much better chance at defeating it. The whole "game is hard, go somewhere else and explore" is the reason why this game rules. On the other hand, a game like Sekiro takes the exact opposite approach, "game is hard, you're stuck here, get good."

Good news, ER is easy as shiat and if you are bad enough to die 95% of the times you respawn right in front boss gate.

Among several other reasons. It's what I hoped games would be when I played the NES Legend of Zelda, Castelvania, and Faxanadu as a kid.

Even the "WTF am I supposed to do now?" feeling is just enough to be enjoyable. I thought the Finger Readers were great, like the fortune tellers in Link to the Past.

Red Dawn - the hate keeps me warm
Youtube NQyhmd7Gk4U

Robby hated Star Wars before it was cool to hate it. In the original version of Red Dawn, good ol' Robby there was talking about how much he hated Star Wars despite jacking off every night to the Slave Leia poster on his ceiling but the reaction of the test audiences thought it was too weird so they used some different lines. It was probably for the best.

Considering optimal builds make everything easier, his overencumbered, meanderingly-leveled character means he's making everything more challenging.  So he's powerleveling his gitting gud.
