What a fascinating 7-paragraph "article" that doesn't get around to mentioning the song that's supposed to be its entire reason for existing until paragraph 6.

It's always time for Gershwin.

Surprising. I would have put my money on that Johnny Cash song "Hurt". Seems like everyone tries to cover that one.

Or Wagon Wheel

I thought "Yesterday" by The Beatles was the most covered song of all time. That's what other sites say, at least.

According to TFA, it doesn't even make the top 5 (although oddly enough, the list skips #3 for some reason).

Meh - it's OK...but as far as musicals go.  I honestly can't recall any version of Summertime that really just sounded like all the others.

And since Musicals is the thread....Imma bust out with fav from 'Hedwig...' (although the whole musical doesn't have a bad song in it.)

The creep of ad space into content is interesting to me because it's the only alternative to a subscription model. Beginning with Covid, advertising and subscription are being reworked through Alphabet's divorce from analytics and it's not the same but related to how broadcast and affiliate models were hashed out in the '70s.

The whole issue of what defines a portal has come 'round, again.

As a Farker, you might appreciate MSN developed aggregation schemes to compete with content creation that's been screaming about search scrapes since a beginning.

It's fascinating MSN maintains a necessary click to view a complete "article" when user habits are being sold at the ISP level. These teaser "articles" redirect to sources half the time and are starving for alternatives to X went Viral!.

The song is Summertime.

There, I saved you a click and several paragraphs about what a cover is and why they didn't include Christmas or folk songs, and other irrelevant stuff.

If the singing shows on TV have anything to say about it, I'm sure Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is making a run on the title fast.

Covered is covered. If they're not going to specify "recorded", this by a huge margin is the correct answer.

Something's wrong with that list. I could have sworn that the most covered song of all time was this one:

It's not even on the list.
