And now that you have filed court documents attesting to the situation, mandated reporters will be required to notify Family and Children Services there are three underage teens living together without adult supervision.  Way to go, lady.  Now, your kids will get to have even more government types all up in their lives.

On the bright side, maybe they can be educated in the laws of cause and effect, cause you certainly have taught them anything.

2022-05-25 5:37:46 AM
The motion says in addition to the "inherent mischief-making capacity of teenage boys", the motion says the current living situation is dangerous...

As oppose to the inherently rational choice a middle-aged woman made to storm the Capitol?

2022-05-25 5:51:53 AM
oh dear lord, let me laugh even harder.

According to the motion: "Powell cannot enter the efficiency after 6 p.m. because pretrial services advised that the equipment supporting her GPS location monitoring cannot be installed there. Thus, her teenage sons are on their own at night."

*much unsupervised wanking ensues*

Lady, your sacrifice has purpose, as you are their bad example.

I was going to make an "Eight Is Enough" joke; but since I can't muster the funny today I'll just state that, based on the fact that she has 8 kids and is a conservative, she sounds like one of those Quiverfull weirdos.

Why is her head not mounted on a stick?

Not unless you extend the same pre trial consideration to every single parent of color awaiting trial.

Also, should have thought about your kids before you committed that many crimes.

Get cancer you traitorous nazi. Maybe your kids will have a chance and not grow up to be like you.

"...saying home detention and location monitoring are affecting her family life."

I'll bet it is, honey. Shudda maybe thought about that beforehand.

"one of her sons fell into a nearby lake while fishing.  Powell says she was unable to come to his rescue due to her ankle bracelet and curfew."

So he is dead?

imagine hating your kids so much that one is drowning in a nearby lake and you are all "Sorry Peyton mommy can't rescue you, ankle monitor"

Yeah maybe don't try to incite a riot before whining about the consequences!

kindms: imagine hating your kids so much that one is drowning in a nearby lake and you are all "Sorry Peyton mommy can't rescue you, ankle monitor"

Not to mention...who needs rescued from a lake? Who falls into a lake in the first place?

I hope they check for a fishing license.

I wonder how she would feel about, say, an African American family of, say, 6 who receiving SNAP benefits. Or if she'd even see any correlation there at all.

Also,

In her motion, Powell says to raise money to pay her defense attorney she sold her home and is renting property near her current employer to keep her job.
Powell says her new home isn't large enough to house her three teenage sons, who are living by themselves in a nearby efficiency residence.

So her solution is to rent two small properties instead of one large one? And to leave her teenage sons unsupervised in their own party flat? Or does this efficiency owned by friends or relatives?

TFA is very light on details, and coddles this white supremacist piece of trash.  The judge also treated this terrorist with kid gloves.
Thankfully she wasn't black with a fake $50 bill and only tried to overthrow the government and participated in the murder of six police officers.
We have plenty of long term prison space available, she should be placed in solitary for a few years, then held another 10 for good measure.

Wait? Nine?

Girl, sorry, but criminals have their kids taken by CPS all the time. If you don't want them to go alone to practices then take them out of sports. They could all fit in your house if they wanted to. Plenty of people fit into one bedroom apartments if they need to. Get some damn accountability.

2022-05-25 8:37:35 AM
You're being detained, genius. If the ankle bracelet's too much to figure out, I'm sure they'd be happy to remand your ass until trial. Good luck rescuing your boys from any lakes then.

Her other 2 sons couldn't save their brother's life? Does he not know how to swim? Is she suddenly so law-abiding that she wouldn't defy a curfew to save her son's life?

It sounds like the fish won this battle of wits.

You raise the obvious question:  where do these people - after years of supporting a harsh and severe War on Drugs/Law'n'Order regime - get the f***ing gall and chutzpah to b****, moan and complain now that they've put themselves in legal jeopardy?

Serious damage has been done to African American family structure over decades - centuries - by this "justice" s***-stem.

Welcome to the party, lady.

One the one hand, ha.

On the other, this is exactly the kind of thing people rightly complain about pretrial services and other court programs - which are mostly for poor people - being woefully inadequate (she can't go into her own house at night because they don't have the right equipment?).

It's of the same piece as charging $5 for a single 15 minute call to or from jail, just because they can and because no one's going to go to bat for murderers and thieves.

// they can't extend her cage to include places where her children are (i.e. next farking door), at times when they'll be there?
// seems like, if you're going to go to the trouble of monitoring someone, you can go through the trouble of establishing their routine and accommodating things like "child supervision/care"

....AND -- let's not ignore exactly how light and easy her pre-trial conditions are.

Breonna Taylor simply was associated with a drug dealer -- and she got summarily executed by the police before any type of charge was even laid.

Perhaps she'd have preferred that?

Oh yeah, this lady.  The initial stories were "How did this farmer's market selling, chicken-raising, organic cheese making yoga mom turn into a Trumper?"

It's because she's one of these people with no consistent political philosophy.  She just loudly chases "healthy" fads that show how much more wizened she is than you.  For her it was Covid denial with natural healing and Facebook had the path laid out to pull her the rest of the way in.  She's simply not a critical thinker at all.  She's still not critically thinking about how her actions put her here.

"On the other, this is exactly the kind of thing people rightly complain about pretrial services and other court programs...."

This is, of course, the "enlightened" view -- if this mass arrest & incarceration of white people - in the national spotlight - creates a national conversation about these long existing issues in the justice system that, in turn, makes it better for everyone that would indeed be great.

But that's not what's going to happen - instead, slight exceptions will be made for these folks....and then nothing.

So - yeah - I hope she gets her piece of the sufferration, rather than hope she represents the thin edge of the wedge of larger "change".

Call me bad-minded, but it's whatever with these traitorous f***s (the unenlightened view - and fiercely proud of it, unfortunately...)

The court is no doubt rightly concerned about the living conditions of her minor children and her inability to care for them due to her criminal activity.  Thank you for bringing that to their attention.

You bring up a good point, but this was a situation created by the defendant - that is, she intentionally sold her house and moved her family to two separate residences while the conditions for pre-trial release were in effect.

I'm fine with reasonable accommodations being made for the circumstance (we don't want her children forced into foster care circumstances when she's yet to be convicted of any crime), but that was already done - part of me wonders if she and her lawyer contrived this to get her out of conditions she had agreed to already.

My last two foster kids were from a large family and their mother was incarcerated. I unfortunately only had space for two (by state's requirements not mine*) but I made sure they got time with siblings and they never missed visits with mom. Situation is less than ideal, but can be done safer than putting minors in their own flat.

*I wanted all 6 kids and tried to convince CPS that putting bunk beds in the dining room and having the two girls in the same bedroom as my daughter (three separate twin sized beds) would work, it was only for 30 months, and was better than splitting them up. The youngest two boys, 4 & 6, stayed with me and the older children went to separate homes, only one with relatives. Core family is back together again and just had home inspection for next foster child.
