I despise that this will disappear from the news in approximately three days, like it always does.

Sadly, no Republican Senator could hear his speech becuae their ears were blocked handfuls of sweet, sweet, gun lobby bribes.

Let's be clear, nobody in power gives a shiat about dead kids. Nobody. They will weep crocodile tears, make noises about God and prayer, and then do absolutely nothing. And we will let them. There should have been a housecleaning 10 years ago when a madman shot up a classroom full of six-year-olds.

And don't blame this on mental illness. Every country has crazy people, yet they don't have mass shootings nearly every day because they have gun control.

We need to start spitting on Republican politicians. I mean it. We need to show them how contemptible they are.  People need to start hocking loogies on McConnell and Cruz.

No, what is really going to drive us all nuts are the folks who are going to blame the school, the kids, the teachers, and eventually will call it a hoax and that the whole thing was staged. Because you know it's going to break soonish.

It's Texas. Let them figure it out for themselves.

Absolutely nothing, that's what they're doing.

Tax ammunition. Two cents per round. Use the money to turn schools fortresses. When they whine, note you're using the money to pay for what the NRA said to do instead of doing anything else.

I've heard a lot of these speeches. We all have. Hundreds more than anyone should have to hear in a lifetime.

For every innocent killed by a gun, a random gun owner should be executed.

I don't care how absurd or asinine a suggestion that is. I'm so enraged about the incessant gun violence that I can't think straight.

The only time it will change? When a school of kids with rich parents end up has 10-20 children dead.

If the Republicans propose anything it will be to massively expand government by putting TSA style officers in every school in the US. They'd also be in favor of building high walls with razor wire around every school. Democrats will compromise and agree to one of those if Republicans agree to limit ammunition purchases someone under 21 can make in one day.

We keep forgetting those politicians are there for a reason. And that reason is we are a representative democracy, and those "do nothing" politicians are elected by our fellow Americans who want this to happen.

I'm not saying they get off on dead kids. I am saying they consciously vote for people who ensure change can't happen, knowing the consequences is dead kids.  I'm not sure there's really a practical difference.

But the point is, it's more that who we elect. Its who we are. Something fundamental needs to change, otherwise we are only treating the symptom.

That's all coming from one primary source, too. The same source that brainwashed an entire generation of gullible half-wits. That same source drives all the hatred, lies and sedition in this country.
But we all play the "WE SEE NOTHING" game.. When we know damn well where it all comes from.

I'm so glad that in the wake of 18 children lying dead in pools of their own blood, you've found the time to pinpoint the REAL problem.

These shootings are a result of how deliberately and desperately broken (in the name of Mammon) society and institutions are in this country.  Those who claim nothing can or should be done about it are beyond contemptible. those who reap those profits because of it are simply evil.  Accountability seems an empty word.

What lead to the murderer's actions is that the US is drowning in guns. And a motivated, gun-crazed 1/5 of the populace will not countenance doing anything because they haven't been forced to reckon with the consequences of their hobby.

Now these grieving families have to deal with right wing Alex Jones lunatics who are going to compound their grief by stalking them, threatening them, and accusing them of being crisis actors whose children never existed.

This isn't an issue of getting right wingers to "see the light" when it happens to them. They're full on self stigginit at this point.

What I read was off the cuff frustration with the inability for the country to deal with the issue. I also had a knee-jerk reaction of "well the logical conclusion of that line of thought is to sacrifice a classroom of rich children to make things happen". But... we also should be free to vent utter exhaustion at watching our words when ANOTHER elementary school has been shot up.

No. We shouldn't kill other children to stop even more children from dying. But we should acknowledge that when the rich don't feel it, then it's incredibly hard to affect change in this iteration of America. And so rather than the violent reaction, maybe we could stop being word nerds and start focusing on the reasons that is the case and make it uncomfortable for those who place profit over people.

Perhaps one of the "pro-lies" republicans on this site can tell us how the mass shooting was not done by a gun, but with Antifa protests.

Yes, I know it would interrupt their "hopes and prayers" sessions. They are all vile, mass murdering garbage.
