> One. Geography. In the west, the River Thames is a narrow  squiggly trickle where bridge building is easy. ...Two. Shipping. In the late 19th century, when  London did most of it's growing, it was the biggest shipping port in the world making bridge building east of  the ports practically impossible

If the shipping port was purposely built in the east, meaning many physical labor type jobs would be in the area of the port, wouldn't that mean the poors would have congregated there given the presence of jobs and typical pay for physical labor?

But do they call me McTavish the West London bridge builder? No.

There are several tunnels on the east side, and one bridge, pictured above, but I imagine that's outside of London proper.

Yeah, it's part of the M25 ring-road around London.

Is it bridge southbound, Dartford tunnel northbound still? Cool memories of riding a motorcycle back from the superbike race at Brands Hatch and a motorcycle publication paid the toll so everyone lane split through the cars and breezed through the tunnel.
