My grandfather was a plant breeder who willed to work with tomatoes. He had to do his genetic engineering the old fashioned way( with a small paintbrush loaded with pollen).

/ I am sure he would have really been into what they can do with gene splicing these days.

// I remember visiting him as a kid and he drew a punnett square and explained to me about dominant and recessive traits.

I have some tomato seeds from the U. of Florida in my fridge. Years ago I saw something online about "try this rare variety" for a $25 donation. I never got around to planting them. I'm strictly a basil & flower gardener.

I've grown those tomatoes. They're very good but not uniquely so.

Anyway, this is an actually useful and safe kind of GMO organism.  It wasn't done just to sell herbicide, which is the reason why 99% of GMOs were created.
