So biscuits. Biscuits with shiat in them. Like sausage and cheddar cheese. Which is no longer a snack, because you're going to eat the whole damn tray in one sitting. Just like last time. Just like next time.

Then it's not a cookie.

In the South we used to have these cheese wafers which were basically the consistency of a cookie. They weren't bad, but they always sort of fell into the uncanny valley of food for me. They just didn't seem like they just should be a thing. I'm open to having my mind changed though.

If your biscuits have the texture of a cookie, you're either British or you're making the biscuits wrong.

Glad t see cooler heads prevail. Biscuits are not cookies although shortbreads have an argument for both sides

Scones and American Southern biscuits obviously share a lineage.  Cream (and later sugar) being the difference between the two.  This lineage is shared with other quick breads like bannocks, short cake, and muffins.

The recipe reminds me more of cracker.  No leavening agent is listed.

oh, man. shortbread is a particular achilles' heel. precocious scamp of a me was already making the stuff at 5 years old. and not too long ago, dollar tree was selling a surprisingly half-decent version.

and TFA very nearly almost impressed me. cumin in desserts? good. rosemary in desserts? good.

my personal carrot cake recipe uses a metric fark-tonne of cha-masala, and really leaves most of the sweetness to cream cheese frosting. which is also extra-fortified with acids.

another favorite for which I am known? banana methi parantha. is not really a dessert, but the subtle sweetness will just bowl you over.

pro-tip: if you can't find fresh methi, either buy frozen and squeeze out all the water (possibly reserve for tea later) or else buy dried and rehydrate (ditto above)

Now I'm picturing carrot cake with LSD-laced frosting

/can I have a piece?
