It's a great start, but there's still a lot of potential.

I'm sure Elon's nowhere near his capacity to shiatpost and insult his customers.

Nah, have one of his rockets fire him into the sun. Or mars, with no spacesuit.

We could solve homelessness and poverty with that kind of money.

He really shouldn't be worth that much money for a number of reasons.

No, how about give me all his money and leave him with nothing and then I can use orbital death lasers to destroy my enemies.

And then I will have a pony.

This is going to hurt him more than a lot of people think. Guaranteeing loans with stock, and stock price falls, that means more Tesla stock to guarantee loans. On top of that Twitter has fallen in price along with pretty much everything else, making it an even larger premium.

Gotta sting trying to buy, having it be on the upside, and watching more of your money potentially fly out the door because you're a moron.

Wouldn't have been awesome to tax unrealized capital gains? You'd now have to pay him back billions.

I'd argue it's at least ten with the patents, but that their fit/finish execution sucks. You can't sell for premium prices, in a crowded market, and expect to have shiat quality. Right now they're building to British Leyland level quality.

Arguing over fine points it's certainly worth less than Toyota or VW.

Let's do the math.
1.04 billion outstanding shares - so at $5 the company would be worth about a billion.
Their income has been growing nicely, so anticipate $3B in earnings and it is finally being driven by car sales instead of carbon credits.
Sorry, a company is worth more than $5B if it has earnings exceeding $3B.

While I think the share price is still too high I just don't see it dropping to $5 a share. Realistically it should be around $100/share and still be a bit of a premium. Even after losing so much value the P/E is still at a silly high of 86.

That's my main point. Even with SpaceX... less than both.

In his case Tesla has fallen too much so he'd need more cash which requires selling SpaceX stock.

At any rate he's probably on thin ice as Chairman at Tesla.

This. All that wealth exists only in accounting ledgers. It's safe to say all of elon/tesla/spacex physical assets and infrastructure do not amount to $69 billion.

Exactly. His loan debts, on the other hand, are most definitely real.
