Couldn't have been a weaker list if it was from Pitchfork.

my list: korean dramas.  any/all of them.  as i have said before, i simply find them to be superior television vs western shows.

because they typically are only one season long it is nice watching something that has an ending and wont just drone on for countless seasons with no puropse.

I have too many old shows that I still have to get through.

Right now I am switching between DC's Legends of Tomorrow (on Season 6) and SOAP (on Season 1) and that's without considering any new movies to watch.

I like to keep it light, life is serious enough already, I don't need to watch a drama.

Now I have to sign up for AMC+ and cancel it after a day.

Looking forward to the new seasons of Stranger Things and The Boys, and also the Obi-Wan show, all starting in the next week or so.

Still need to watch Our Flag Means Death.  'From' and 'Severance' are supposedly good too.

Too much to watch, too little time.

NPR you say? Is it all Downton Abbey, Britcoms and murder mysteries?

I haven't done that in years. It would be just as quick for me to stream it and cancel. I am no longer a penniless hippy in either case.

I wish. It's disaffected suburban housewives, dead Mormon children in the 80s, and techbros with subtle names like Byron Gogol -- because apparently Jerky McFacebook was taken.

lol...fair enough =) I won't say anything other than the cliffhanger at the end sure will make you wish July was here sooner than later to find out what happens next.

Appreciated. But at least it's a couple months and not the 15 years like last time.

Netflix has basically trained me not to watch any new TV shows. They're either awful or cancelled in two seasons.

/ got plenty of old TV to watch, anyway
// Sopranos, Magnum, Bob Newhart, Six Feet Under, Becker, Looney Tunes Show, Fraiser...

[clicks link] wow I only have HBO and still not sure I want to watch that show.

But yeah, need to dig into Our Flag Means Death (however my better half is getting down with the Frasers... gorram Outlander.)

If it has Melanie Lynskey, it's probably worth watching.

Made for Love is good, but I wouldn't put it on my "tops" list.

Soap and the Benson make for good olde tyme series binging.

If you would have asked me in the 90's which SNL cast member would have a very steady career in the 2020's, Molly Shannon would not have made the list.  That being said, I've liked her in many shows of late; Divorce and White Lotus come to mind first.

Have you seen 'The Other Two'?  If not, she's great in that as well.

And she had a bit part in 'Promising Young Woman' as well.

Maybe add "Becker" to the list?  Ted Danson was great as a cranky doctor and the cast was excellent.

I might check out the Man who fell, but only maybe.  I have For All Mankind and Sandman on my list and a few things in Netflix to check out when I have time but nothing I'd call "required viewing"

Mmmm, yes I signed up to watch the new season and now it's time to cancel I guess.  Or do I wait until it's all over?  I wish AMC+ had more to watch.

That said, you missed an excellent show, it was both gleeful and gut-wrenching by turns.

I lucked the hell out. My cable package has an on demand option that I forgot about after turning to majority streaming. For once it was on point and I just finished the episode and goddamn. No spoilers for those in my previous situation but, oh man. And if you're asking why I still have cable, I know what it looks like, but I'm not crazy and I'm not on drugs.

All of those shows I listed and in various states of being watched. I picked up Becker after watching The Good Place (one of the few new shows I've watched in the past decade) and was instantly reminded of the brilliance of a comedic Ted Danson. I never watched its original run largely because it felt like a show that the network forgot it was producing. But now I'm just hungry for more Ted Danson and it's a shame he's been so under utilized between Becker and The Good Place.

I did recently hear that Severance is good. Premise sounds very intriguing. However, I'm not getting Apple TV+ and I fear that, being on Apple TV+ where there's basically no audience, the show will be cancelled soon.

There is a season of Fargo with Ted Danson (second season?) - it is amazing.

Also watch Bored to Death if you haven't already.

Ted Danson has been an actor all my life, but it wasn't until last year or so that I realized how good he is.

Thank you for reminding me of Fargo. I recall watching most of the first season and meaning to get back to it. I'll definitely watch it now knowing Danson is in it! I'll look into Bored to Death, as well.

jackmalice: List fails without Spy x Family.

Anime shown on Crunchyroll in the US, new episodes each Saturday.

Elevator pitch - 60's Spy Drama/Comedy in which the Spy, Twilight, has to infiltrate a elite private school to gain access to a government official, but he needs a kid to do so.  He adopts Anya, who happens to be telepathic.  She thinks that her father being a spy is super cool.  She passes the written test, but now has to be interviewed by the school with BOTH parents. So now he needs a wife. Anya finds him one, who happens to be an assassin. The engagement ring is the pull-pin off of a grenade, and he gives it to her in the middle of a fire fight.

It gets better from there.

He doesn't know she's an assassin.  She doesn't know he's a spy.  But Anya knows.
