Every season of this show surprises me with just how good it is. It really shouldn't be. The characters are all pretty much despicable. There's really no way for Barry's storyline to have a happy ending. But it's just well-written and so well acted. You watch even though it's a train wreck filled with awful people who deserved to be on that train. In some ways it's very similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm, although in my view it's far, far better.

It's amazing how they can get you to alternately hate, sympathize with, and laugh at such horrible people, then run you through the cycle again.

Oh cool. I didn't realize Season 3 had started.

It was okay at first, but I really can't stand the acting and relationship side story. Completely boring and such a slog to get through. Although I did enjoy Barry trying to comfort his ex by proposing to 'freak out' her old boss. "Oh, there are lots of ways... I could take photos of her sleeping, replace her dog with a similar looking one... Eventually her brain will literally eat itself."

I've decided to root for NoHo Hank. It seems like all he wants is for his criminal empire to get set up enough for him to just coast for the rest of his life living in the valley with Cristobal. And isn't that something we can all identify with, several dozen dead people aside?

the only part I didn't enjoy.  she'd have been okay if you remove her almost supernatural ability.

and I was happy for fuches for a bit.  it seemed he was really ready to just leave all the BS behind and settle down with goats and a good woman.  Oh but that revenge bug....

Until now, the closest I came to dropping the show was at the start of the episode with the martial artist's daughter.  I was saying to myself "If he actually kills a kid, I'm out."  When she turned out to be Wolverine, I laughed my ass off and they won me back.

But they finally lost me at the end of episode 2 this season.  By the end of it, I just wanted someone to kill Barry.  No sympathy for him at all.  Since that's not going to happen, I'm not feeling any desire to keep going.

I'm going to miss Noho Hank, though.

Season 3 isn't doing it for me vs. prior seasons, can't quite put my finger on exactly why - maybe it's just getting progressively weirder and less plausible, but not in good ways.

Glad I actually clicked the link, as I wouldn't have found the linked Seth Myers/Bill Hader interview otherwise.

Be sure to stick it out for the impressions towards the end.

I think season 3 started off a little slow, but has come into form.

I for one like the possibility of dark, unhappy or ambiguous story endings.

American audiences are getting better about such things. But if you look at even recent remakes of European or Latin American cinema, the first thing gringos do is take a great sad or ambiguous ending to give American audiences some terrible happy conclusion.

Also I'm convinced Barry eating a donut at the beginning of forgiving jeff is a self-referencing nod to the claim people finish the whole season if someone is eating a desert in the first two minutes

The scene with the wide shot of the parking lot was so farking dark and so farking funny. I was wavering a little bit at the first few episodes, but they've pulled me back in.

I love it too. I loved Barry telling Sally about his plan for her boss. I was screaming internally for him to shut up through tears of helpless laughter at the sheer insanity of it all. Hader totally sells it. No Hos homecooked therapy session was also a highlight.

Getting his psyops training from Reddit seemed spot-on.  Those plans were mostly wildly impractical.

Heard "Are you sure hank done it this way" on the radio and pictured a scene where Noho Hank was wearing head to toe rhinestones, duded up cowboy suit, line dancing in a cowboy bar to that song with a look of pure bliss on his face. He wears the costume for the rest of the episode and nobody mentions it at all.

I want No Ho Hank and Cristobal to have a show where they kidnap members of their incompatible crime families, deprogram them, and create their own new crime family, with emotional support, blackjack and hookers.

That scene was brilliant, I got distracted just enough by the tech support call that the explosion caught me by surprise.
