Maybe not in a campaign for Governor but in a GQP primary?

Someone got a little upitty didn't they.

"She said that Georgia is the worst place in the country to live," he also said during that rally. "Hey, she ain't from here. Let her go back where she came from if she doesn't like it here."

Should take his own advice and head back to what ever corner of hell he spawned from.

His opponent, at least until tonight, is Brian Kemp. Well, and the crazy "Babies Guns Jesus" ladies.

"Generally not considered the smartest idea?"  Really subby, just waking up?

Being racist is what gets out the republican vote.

2022-05-24 8:21:43 AM
Since when is playing to your base considered a bad idea?

2022-05-24 8:32:08 AM
Unless your state is full of racists.

Kemp has a 32 point lead over Perdue.
Gonna be a double humiliation for Trump.
First humiliation: Guy he endorsed loses by 32 points
Second Humiliation: Kemp was endorsed by Pence just to piss off Trump

2022-05-24 9:07:05 AM
Stacey Abrams has lived in GA since she was in high school.

David Perdue is a failed abortion who's going to lose the primary. Too bad he can't pull a murder-suicide on himself and Kemp.

Abrams called it the worst place to live? Not good messaging, she just boosted GQP turnout in the fall

Maybe in some other timeline it's a bad idea.  This one?

A-ok

No pic of anyone actually running, tellingly.  But:

Are we sure 'speaks' is the right word here?  Perhaps 'bellows' would be better?

One of the Sec of State candidates sent me a flier talking about the evils of Abrams and Pelosi. It's almost as if Republicans don't have anything to campaign for, so they're reduced to exclusively campaigning against.

She was born in Madison, WI - I have a feeling that the GOP absolutely does NOT want her to start doing to WI what she's helped do to GA.

Careful what you wish for.

// WI is bluer (swingier) than GA

Subby is high, Purdue knew this would give him a needed last minute poll bump with the base.

What is a "tele-rally"? Did they actually just have a conference call (that I assume listeners had to pay to access)?  Was it just because Trump couldn't make it in time from some other event of his, or has he finally gotten so lazy that he is literally phoning it in to grift the rubes?

My bona fides state that I'm a libby lib, but I had a hard time figuring out what exactly the racist part of his idiotic rant was.

Was it the "not from here, go back to where you came from?"

If so, how exactly is that racist?  she moved to GA when she was in HS.  So, although I loathe Perdue (not associated with my alma mater Purdue University), you could say that about anyone who moved to your location regardless of gender and race.

I'm all for racists to be called out and shamed, just not seeing it on this particular comment.  And the GQP has been quite upfront with their bullhorn dogwhistles as of late.

Gee... it's not like white people have been telling that to black people ever since the end of slavery. It's not even a dog whistle.

2022-05-24 9:21:28 AM
"Now, somebody's going to try to Politifact me on this - let me contextualize," Abrams continued. "When you're No. 48 for mental health, when you're No. 1 for maternal mortality, when you have an incarceration rate that's on the rise and wages that are on the decline, then you are not the No. 1 place to live in the United States. But we can get there. You see, Georgia is capable of greatness. We just need greatness to be in our governor's office."

So did Trump, you realize: "Our country's never been in worse shape" is, substituting the country for the state, the exact thing Abrams said.

// oh, but Trump was saying that it's a Democrat's fault

And telling it to white people as well.  I assume you're familiar with the term "carpetbagger"?

Southerners tend to be clannish and insular.  I'm 60, moved to the gulf coast when I was 15 and I still get the "not from here" treatment sometimes.

Naturally, TFG had to make it about himself instead of Perdue.

"Making racist comments about your potential opponent" is considered 'Get Out The Vote' in Georgia...

2022-05-24 9:35:46 AM
"When she told Black farmers, 'You don't need to be on the farm,' and she told Black workers in hospitality and all this, 'You don't need to be' - she is demeaning her own race when it comes to that,"

I am unclear about is demeaning when a person says "you don't need to be X."  That seems to be a statement about income mobility.

2022-05-24 9:35:55 AM
While it can be explained away by "what I really meant was she was born in Wisconsin" it shows a distinct lack of care for what it could mean and thus was clearly dogwhistle politics.

I think its a case of if you say you're not a racist but are #1 with racists and court the vote of racists, guess what? You ARE a racist.

2022-05-24 9:39:27 AM
Making racist comments about your opponents and your opponents' voters is literally the base of all GQP campaigning, rhetoric, and policies.

Must not criticize Dear Leaders. If you want the left version of red state, run on over to dailykos. and enjoy the purity of absolute faith. 10,000 clicks gets you an "Don't blame me, I voted for Bernie" bumper sticker for your '82 Volvo.

The south isn't alone on that one. My family moved to a small WI town when I was barely old enough to have a couple broken memories from before/during the move. I still got that treatment when I was finishing high school, from both students and teachers. F__king yokels, man. They also seemed to think every surrounding s__ty town was populated with each having their own unique species of human.

Pretty sure he's just phoning it in. I was in Nashville this weekend and saw several signs for a Trump "private virtual event" that I assume was a pay-to-view type of thing, but I'm not putting it in my search history to find out.

It may shock you to learn when trump says it sucks he's saying the racist past was better.

When Abrams says its bad she wants to change things for the better. change is what the wingnut base fears

This is wholesale politics 101. It's not about her being wrong (she's not) it's about mass psychology

So you CAN understand context, you just selectively choose not to.

Intredasting.

// or maybe you're just pre-shiatting the pool because you're afraid of whatever half-cocked braindead nonsense Republicans will vomit out in response (...it's this. Just this. They're not terribly creative or innovative)
// it's no different from the last 81 million times a Democrat said "we could probably do better as a country" and Republicans took a break from ranting about black helicopters and jackbooted TAKINAREGUNZ tyranny and the faults communists in our stars and the utter brokenness of the country under (real or threatened) Democratic leadership and the socialists under Congress' floorboards to tell us that America is and always was the bestest country the Christian God ever willed into existence and HOW DARE THE DEMOCRATS INSULT JESUS AND LADY LIBERTY

It is.  It's pretty shopworn in those parts.  His audience has the ears to hear it.  It's the 'uppity black carpet baggers from up north comin' down here to rile up our 'colored'.'  Sorry about the wording, but it's hard to get the 'flavour' of the meme without it.

Perdue & Trump are going to poison the GA Governor's primary just enough to make Abrams Governor in a repeat of their 2020 US senate races, aren't they.

If it happens it'll be absolutely epic.
