How exactly is it a good idea to take the broke part of Oregon and include it in a broke state like Idaho, especially when it has to pay fire expenses every summer?

2022-05-24 10:34:42 AM
Hell, while they're at it give them Montana, Wyoming and both Dakotas.

-8 (R) Senators, and I am guessing a net loss in the house too.

2022-05-24 11:11:11 AM
Even the Eastern Yahoos don't actually want anything to do with Idaho. They're mad at something, and they want to throw a fit...but they sure as hell ain't going to Idaho. That's no solution to anything.

2022-05-24 12:25:10 PM
Well bye.  And this is of course assuming Idaho wants you morons.  I hope you get to find out all the ways it will make your lives shiatty to no longer be part of OR.  You people do know the minimum wage in Idaho is $7.25, almost half of Oregon's $13.50.  And hey those of you who work in the service industry, Oregon requires your employer to pay you minimum wage even if you are tipped, enjoy making $2.00/hr when you become part of Idaho.  Once you're gone and we're not supporting you any more, Oregon will be rolling in extra money, we'll probably have to cut taxes.

2022-05-24 12:49:44 PM
Your votes mean nothing morans. If you don't like Oregon then move to Idaho.

The Greater Idaho Movement faces a daunting path: Its ambitious proposal requires the approval of both the Oregon and Idaho Legislatures, followed by the U.S. Congress.

Do Eastern Oregon idiots know that Idaho has open borders, and people can just immigrate there?

2022-05-24 1:39:36 PM
Fascinating -- what do the majority of Oregon citizens feel about it?

Well, that's a shame -- I guess E.Oregon is still stuck in Oregon.

Just when I thought you can't make Medford suck any more you tell me it could be Idaho.  Yikes.

Careful now, only seven. We have Jon Tester holding the fort in Montana.

Honestly, I don't want to give them what they want because they are spoiled children. However: If they did give that sandy, dirty, desert scrub part of the state to Idaho...it wouldn't be that bad for us. Then we'd only have to deal with the petulant children along the southern part of the I-5.

2022-05-24 1:42:06 PM
adding or removing territory to or from states is unconstitutional, isn't it?

2022-05-24 1:42:33 PM
So, take the one congressional district that votes Republican, give it to Idaho, net zero new Republican representatives and Oregon Senators that can be even more liberal. Good plan.

2022-05-24 1:43:53 PM
Can we make sure to get rid of the rest of the crap over there too ? I see a few things that we should still get rid of.

I once did a road trip up I-5. We decided to stop for the night in Medford. We were shocked to find out that all the hotels were completely booked. I asked one of the hotel front desk guys why the town was so filled up, was there a Taylor Swift concert or something? He said "No, it's just tourist season."

My wife and I are still scratching our heads over that one. Who the F takes a vacation trip to Medford?

Bend will be our border town. Where the "New Idahoans" will come to buy weed and other things that are tax-free and/or prohibited by morons in Idaho.

From a more detailed article:

In all, about 386,000 of Oregon's 4.1 million people and 63% of the state's land would become part of Idaho.

It's an attempted land grab. Any bets as to which logging and mining companies are funding this?

Just as long as it's still in Oregon. I don't want to hate myself for enjoying Bend.

There's a part of me that's like "well... bye."

But most of me is going "If you don't like it, move. That's what you always tell us to do" with a healthy sprinkling of "F*ck you if you think you get to keep this land."

What I don't understand is what makes these Oregon rednecks think they're so unique and different. Every blue state has deep-red areas, except maybe Vermont and Hawaii. You don't hear about people in downstate Illinois voting to join Indiana.

Idaho is a red state, so they get tons of free ebil big gubbermint money from the taxes of the Blue States voters.

It's kind of like when all the nuts emigrated to the US in the 1600-1700s.

You're seeing the same kind of microcosm here in the West, the same concentration of nutballs.

And that's what they need to be called.

Kumana Wanalaia: adding or removing territory to or from states is unconstitutional, isn't it?

No.

states can adjust there boarders and they need congressional approval.  There is precedence.  West Virginia became a stake because with Virginia joined the confeds the people in WVA said fark that and requested to be made there own state.  VA said 'get lost we don;t need ya' and congress said 'sure!' and west Virginia was born,

Wasn't Virginia not part of the United States of America at the time, and technically part of the Confederate States of America? Might still be murky.

The Union did not recognize the CSA or its states as being independent from the USA.
