Galveston County Emergency Services District No.2 said on Facebook Sunday that the large influx of people was straining emergency services on the Bolivar Peninsula,

Yeah.  Considering Bolivar's emergency services are equipped to deal with, at most, half a dozen fishermen with sunburn and fishing hook related mishaps, I would say so.

"Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset told FOX 26 Houston that more than 100 people were arrested over the weekend, as deputies responded to multiple assaults, fights and DWIs."

Just sounds like any other weekend in Texas to me.

California has the Hammers and Utah has Jeep Jamboree. Cops are always out to protect their income the peace.

100 arrests out of 80,000 attendees? Compare that to 100 arrests at a peaceful BLM protest attended by 100 people.

The deputy nearly went through the car's windshield due to the impact

So, wasn't wearing his seatbelt?

So I own a jeep and other than the jeep wave thing I use it to get as far away from people as possible.

I feel these people have missed the point of owning a Jeep.

All my experience with Jeeps was in the Army. Not quite the same party atmosphere, but close at times.

It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't get it.

I looked at some pictures from it.  It was hardly a Jeep Thing.

They had Ford, Dodge and Chevy trucks too. It's a Redneck Tailgate Dream. I think they should close the beaches to vehicles anyway. Besides, that tar is really hard to get off.

40,000 people just on Saturday?  So how was traffic getting there? More fun than on a rainy weekend in December I imagine.

Maybe the problem is if they closed the beach to traffic there'd be no place to park.  So enjoy sunbathing in the parking lot.

Recently saw someone post a Jeep they were trying to sell. I think it was about 10 years old, and they special ordered it to get a manual. They only got a 2-wheel drive though. Then they go on in the post to say it's never been off road, never been in the sand or snow, wasn't beat on, etc. I just wanted to ask them why the fark did they get a Jeep then?
