natazha: I've made it to 70-yo, so I take these recommendations with a grain of salt (which is not the bug-a-boo common literature says it it).  Meta analysis of salt intake, world-wide, shows that only the Chinese eat too much sodium, >5 gm a day - over double the FDA recommendation.

I have high blood pressure and the level of sodium in my blood is one point above the minimum of the normal range. The trick is getting enough potassium, so your kidneys can do their job properly.
