(New Zealand Herald)   A moral quandary: you drive a tanker full of septic waste, which you are meant to dump at an official facility, but it's getting late, and you want to get to the pub. What to do?   (nzherald.co.nz) divider line

"brownfreight", what an inoffensive euphemism for a giant tank of sewage.

I'd say it's complete. The land yacht story was a New Zealand team.

We had a guy do that here. At least he was decent enough he dumped it out on an old logging road into a clear cut where it likely was beneficial. Its always amusing to me that people here get riled up over a few human turds being dumped out into the wild but will haul in several semi truck loads of broiler house droppings and spread it over 100 acre fields. One man I know spread 270 or so tons of it. You could smell it 10 miles away if you were down wind.

See, this is what happens when you tell a moron, "Well if you love mai tais so much, why don't you marry one?"

They used to do that in many places. Often called it something like "night soil." The difference is generally that, when comparing livestock to human waste, there are more opportunities for pathogens to find new hosts with human waste. Also, especially with modern humans, there are tons of extra chemicals in the waste than with typical animal manure. Of course you'd be advised to wash your fresh produce regardless of the type of fertilizer used but not doing so with human manure can have larger consequences.

And he gets off with some community service and "restorative justice" courses. I want to see a couple of giant fish holding this asshole's head in a tub of sewage-contaminated stream water until he half drowns in it. If the fish don't have the dexterity I volunteer to act on their behalf.

The council urged Judge Kirkpatrick to hand down a sentence of imprisonment as his whanau did not want him to serve home detention at home and he had not proven reliable to adequately complete a community work sentence in the past.

We had some bike race participants do that with their rv once on the side of the main road coming into town, hundreds of people saw it happening including the chp unit that wrote them a nice fat ticket...

It's a Māori word meaning, basically, "extended family".

We will be doing this eventually.  I guess the poo will be sterilized or something.  I watched something about this on TV, because of course in Asia they are already doing it.  It was quite disgusting, but those guys were working in biohazard suits (no masks, just covered) and they were mashing all that poo up and putting it in containers, to be shipped out for fertilizer.

If I wasn't so grossed out I would have been fascinated.
