My prediction is the Celtics will tie it up.

You've been close, so far, but I think you went Heat in Game 2.

No Herro tonight. Not sure about Robert Williams. Butler will play, but he may have issues.

Ok...I managed to sober up from Saturday. It was Saturday, right? Days have been blurred together over the last few months.

2022-05-23 8:42:25 PM
At least the Heat commit the first turnover that the Celtics turn into two points.

2022-05-23 8:44:26 PM
Jaylen still can't dribble. I would have thought he'd go down to Faneul Hall yesterday and just dribble it around the marketplace.

There was some razzing in Boston that Tatum was faking his shoulder injury because he played so bad in Game 3. But he's engaged and that shoulder is still bothering him.

2022-05-23 8:57:22 PM
Damn good start so far. 16-1 barely 7 mins. into the game.

2022-05-23 8:57:33 PM
This has to be some kind of record (negative) for the Heat to start ANY game, much less a playoff game.

Bah!  They got a shot.

I'm wondering about any team in any game.

I know it would be for obvious reasons (Celtics homer), but it would have been pretty wild to see the Heat end the quarter with 1 point. That would probably be the equivalent of a scorigami. I feel like they're going to get a few shots to avoid being shut down to single digits in the first quarter.

Apparently, the Warriors and the Mavericks have had 2 point quarters.

Spoelstra stopped short of saying Pritchard made a dirty play on Butler in Game 3, but he said the don't need the league to do anything about it. Is he alluding to them maybe slamming Pritchard to the floor at an opportune time?

Interesting.

What the f*ck call is that?

2022-05-23 9:07:22 PM
So it's not a charge because a player trailing the play breathed on the shooter.

Single digit quarter still in play!

Yeah, lame.  Should have been a jump ball before that.

Does Whit do anything but fall in ways no one should on a court?

The jump ball calls are kind of annoying. In the old days when you had possession and a guy was trying to get a jump you called timeout.

And I honestly thought they weren't going to call that foul when the dude crushed White.

In the old days when you slid on the floor for a loose ball, it was a travel too.

Yes...he guards guys, hits a three or two and dribbles the ball around the court to mix up the defense.

They shouldn't have, White just dove randomly across a guy going back upcourt.

White's a solid vet presence.  Good defender, mostly solid shooter.  Can get streaky bad at times, but generally trustworthy.  Good passer.  Doesn't hog shots. The guy's been great for the Celts.

Wow, you're blind. White was about to dribble it up the court and got run over.

Seriously, it looked like Miami tried to intentionally foul him, and didn't get the call.

He's like 3/4 of their offense right now. Or was before that last three.

He's been terrible all playoffs until Game 3.

Yeah, he hasn't been a factor, but that's how it is with these guys. Celtics have several players who were just really good for two games. Important games, but then not good other than  that.

Should have been a loose ball foul on Butler when Brown was receiving the pass.

I thought we had "The Extender" reffing this game.

I love how Lowry (and most everyone else) argue after fouls.  It wasn't ME hanging off his arm!

Bah, the Heat filled up the first quarter scoring frame.  (I assume 25 per quarter as the baseline.)

It's incredible how he hasn't made it a single two-possession run without flopping around.

"Boo hoo, they're only calling a foul on every possession against the Heat, not multiple fouls."

"Also, when we said you were allowed to hit wrists after knocking the ball away in Game 3 when they wiped away our foul...well, that doesn't apply when it's not the Celtics."

Yeah, I hate that.

I wish for one year a team absolutely committed to NEVER calling for a foul. Just play and if you lose because of the refs, whatever. Just keep playing. When the season is over you can point to the non-calls as to why you lost a lot of games, but for the experiment, just see what the refs do with a team that absolutely never complains to them.

Or at least not the impulsive complaining. I have no problem with going over to them during timeout and saying something like, "If you watch #34 he always grabs my shirt." or "This guy is taking four steps during his so-called eurostep" or whatever. But not calling for the foul with arms raised, or the "COME ON" pose.

Have you watched an NBA game in recent years?  If you don't sell it, you don't get the foul.  There's no gain in heroically standing firm.  The contact is still a very real foul.  Everyone plays this way on every team.

Boston sports fans:

"We only have a 22-8 lead in FTs! The refs are trying to extend the game!"

Dude, why do you have to be an asshole about it?

We're just talking about the game and things we see. But you have to take everything in a way to try to insult people.

Knock it off.

No, every other player manages to make it to both ends of the court without falling over.

I'm just talking about what I see. You're whining about refs not calling enough fouls on the opposing team in a game you're leading by like 30, where your team is flopping on every possession and is tripling the number of FTs the opponent has taken.

I realize it's not quite as much as the 5x as many FTs they gave y'all when you needed the help in G3, but they're still heavily stacked in your favor.

OMG Bam is such a FLOOPPPER!  Wah!!!

2022-05-23 9:43:44 PM
Shocking, another foul called with nothing going on to give the Celtics more FTs.

Wish we had this officiating crew against Milwaukee.  They were non stop moving picks.
