"Rapidly" aging isn't a thing. It's super predictable.

Well, elder folks in Japan volunteered to work in and around the Fukishima power plant during cleanup after the accident.  They reasoned if someone were to get cancer, it is better an old person get it rather than a young one.

Of course, this was done 100% voluntarily and was seen as fulfilling a duty to the next generation.  I don't think even a voluntary government plan would go over too well, but there could well be some takers.

as a modern society assisted suicide is way over due. assisted suicide should be available to a wide range of people and for many reasons. we are able to provide a way out for ailing pets but not parents. ridiculous. we're a very slow backwards race.

Hell, even when its legal (like in Canada) it's barely available, even if you're actively dying. Going on palliative care (where you'll be made "comfortable") requires only verbal consent, but assisted suicide requires multiple forms, multiple doctor's assessments, witnesses, etc. Despite the end result being the same.

In soylent green, it is called a "going home center".

And I fully support the old all choosing to go home.

We prefer our involuntary suicide, through a complex mixture of food additives, lawn chemicals, cigarettes and stress.

We have our own solution to that problem.
