Looks like he's got an oil on his fingers. My cousin is a short order cook and had cottonseed(?) oil on his fingers while working to prevent burns. Has to have a smoke point for it to work, and it has to be "neutral" so it won't affect the food flavors.

Good for him, doing what he enjoys, instead of taking the easy way out and making millions from letting Dow's material scientists study his fingers.

Considering I chopped a bit of my finger off just slicing chives, this both makes me envious and also triggers me.
