Terrorists support terrorism.

Shouldn't have to point that out, but there it is anyway.

Dems vow to stand by and shrug with indifference.

Pretty much why Republicans have quashed any new additions to the terrorist watchlist that aren't primarily brown.  They have to protect their Taupeshirts.

I suppose you're right. Maybe Democrats should get a set of brass cojones and send in an angry mob to storm the Capitol and get things done--oh wait

well boys...

guess we can attack them with impunity.

As I have said many times in Fark, racism is endemic to United States and permeates everything. There's hardly an issue that exists that you can't find the racial aspect of it that has allowed it to exist for hundreds of years.

I know that really pisses a few of you off every time I say it - really sucks doesn't it? And I'm just a pasty white guy. I can't imagine how much it sucks for Black people.

Generally against any expansion of the carceral state, not sure why a bill is needed for these agencies to "set up offices" internally - stands to reason they could just choose to do that now, and lefties should all be wary of how these offices will be used in practice - if history is any indication they will almost certainly be turned on BLM and other lefty organizing groups.

The GOP is an extremist party, and Republicans are terrorists.

Period.

Doubtful.  If there was any chance that they realized they could use it in such a way, the entirety of the Republican party would vote for it.

Does it have to be one or the other though? Is there not something that Democrats can do to make this work? Is there a reason Democrats seem eternally unable to design and execute effective procedural strategies to meet objectives and Republicans do it all day long? It does seem like the Dems back down more often than not, and I think "why?" is a fair question at this juncture.

Uh, wasn't the whole point of the Edward Snowden leaks? They're already spying on everyone. Biden wants extra manpower to do something about all the white supremacists openly begging to lose another civil war.

2022-05-22 2:40:37 PM
We don't need new laws in the books to solve this problem we need people who aren't compromised to enforce the ones we have, otherwise we need up back where we are now: John Whitebread managing to plan and execute an attack in broad daylight and gets called a lone wolf despite warning signs and a whole squad of fanboys on social media cheering him on and treating him like a saint after the fact, while anyone who protests against police violence, pollution, corruption or anti-choice bullshiat gets the attention of the DHS.

There's no point in giving them tools they'll only misuse.

Domestic terrorism is legitimate political discourse.

Does the legislation mandate that the DoJ gives them more than home confinement and probation?
It seems to me that laws are already on the books and it is the lack interest in doing anything by conservatives that is the problem.

HerptheDerp: So, when we going the address the elephant in the room about their overt willingness to destroy the fabric of this nation?

Protecting these people have been a priority since the Clinton years, and informally before then. They know their base. The idea of going full on Turner Diaries BEFORE those people can get organized has been pretty much implicit in gaining support from White Power Motherf*ckers. And the Beltway folks have done the math, and while they know that it can't really work, not without nuking their retirement funds and pretty much asploding everything that they've worked for, they still cling to the idea that they can control their mob. Kinda. And they're more than willing to sacrifice them to get a better seat at the table.

"It sounds terrible," Sen. Josh Hawley(R-Mo.) of the House-passed bill, predicting it won't get 10 Republicans in the Senate.

The truth is, both the Domestic Terrorism Commission and the Disinformation Commission would get more than 10 Senate Republicans in their investigations, which is why they're voting against it.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again: Democrats need to strike at the very id of the average right winger - declare that they are scared of and soft on white terrorists. Call them cowards, weaklings, pussies, etc. on this matter instead of trying to get them (and America in general) to appeal to a liberal ideal of anti racism that they will neither abide by or actively oppose.

You know how Cawthorn was finally toppled? Not because of his groping, not because of his Nazi fetishism, not because of his reckless driving, absolutely none of that fazed him. He got kicked out 100% based off him being exposed as a crossdressing male cousin humping wimp.

Right wingers relish on being bigoted and evil. They do not abide by being weak. Realize that and use it to your advantage.

Same with gas prices. In a just world, we would be seeing daily headlines about how the GOP is soft on crime, doesn't want gas prices to go down, and wants babies to starve, all backed up with voting numbers on these bills.

AND BIDEN WON'T FIX IT as I watched a military plane big enough to hold a small city being unloaded with 90k lbs of formula this morning. from the EU. All in 6 oz servings. It was several million servings.

The cool part was the ramp was about five feet off the ground and one of the military guys pulled a bit and leaped onto the ramp and landed light as a feather. I was impressed.

I think there is some good sense there.  Democrats should start with corporate give aways and declare them socialist.  All republicans supporting it are socialist.  And then on to farmers.  Farmers receiving federal aid are welfare queens.  We should let the free market decide not distort the market with government handouts.  Something like that might wrong foot republicans.

Pregnant women in third-world shiatholes like Texas and Oklahoma are the real terrorists.

2022-05-22 3:13:43 PM
Well it's not often that Ron Johnson, R-Wis. is correct but boy is he on point here with "there's a huge double standard."

There is. For example, in the summer of 2020 I was arrested fourteen times. Shot at with chemical weapons. Chased by uniformed teenagers with full-auto weaponry. Beaten bloody, once.

In each instance my PRESS markings and creds were easily visible. I sprayed that shiat on my vest in goddamned glow-in-the-dark paint, hey.

And I was never charged with a single offense. Not one.

Now, you can say whatever you like. But no one will ever convince me those weren't instances of terrorism. From the let's hunt protestors pigfarkers in Minneapolis to Teargas Ted's suspiciously well-placed friends in Portland - the goons always seemed to know where exactly - to the bottom-of-the-barrel BORTAC snatch squads Barr, Wolf & Co were tossing around ... that was one thing. One complete thing.  It was terror, designed to achieve a specific political outcome.

Terrorism. Instigated by the sitting waddling president of the United States.

When Barr is strapped at an angle to a board and water is poured continuously into the towel covering his face, I will relent. When Wolf is kept hypothermic in a stress position for days on end in a shipping container, I will ease up. When Trump is forced to listen to blaring Nashville country at ear-damaging volume for weeks at a time and subject to continuous bright lights and vicious, pointless beatings, I will smile.

Until then? They are terrorists.

Herbal Space Program: Is there a reason Democrats seem eternally unable to design and execute effective procedural strategies to meet objectives and Republicans do it all day long? It does seem like the Dems back down more often than not, and I think "why?" is a fair question at this juncture.

Yes.  But first, let's clear something up... the US doesn't have a left wing party.  It has a moderate right wing party with some left elements and a batshiat crazy right wing party.

OK.  Next, on to answering the actual question:  It's far, far easier to throw sand in the gears of a complicated machine than to design and build it in the first place.  Democrats are trying to build, Republicans are trying to destroy.  They have a massive advantage because they don't actually have to do much to gum up the works of a system that fundamentally requires everyone operates more or less in good faith under an agreed-upon set of rules.
