Ugh. He can't even maintain a well trimmed beard. I'd be terrified of what he has growing below his belt.

Just, gross.

Been there, done that. She was cute. No one else knew. It didn't last but we stayed friends.

under most circumstances it's probably best not.  however, it is possible for people in that dynamic to have a relationship or even one night stand, and it not be unhealthy.
but if you did embark on a relationship with your boss, I think one of you should get another job pretty quickly.  there will come a point where it's an issue, even if it's someone else's issue and it's bullshiat.  won't matter that it's a healthy relationship, it does not look good, especially to HR.

Do you want that promotion or not?

Sleeping with the boss's wife is better.  And she'll nag him to give you a promotion if you play your cards right.

If she's hot, then basically it's all benefits for me.  I get sex, I get someone up the chain likely to favor me at work, and I have a perfect lawsuit lined up to fund my early retirement if anything goes wrong.

Now, for her?  Very bad idea.  I'm not awful, but somehow I doubt I'm among the world's best lovers.  It's just 99% risk from her perspective.  A boss willing to sleep with me shouldn't be considered qualified to be the boss.

An easy sexual harassment suit for the company if the employee is so inclined.  Doesn't matter if it was consensual or not, still a power play.

*Slept with an employee.  She made the first move.  She considered a lawsuit.  Luckily I came out unscathed.  Never again.

Don't worry about it - boss'll just have you killed and buried out in the desert like all the rest of her toys.  Enjoy!

The fact that you went through with it in order to reach that conclusion boggles my mind.

If my boss expressed interest, I would gladly allow it. Then I'd demand preferential treatment; my boss has a lot of discretion over how raises and bonuses are handled.

Then, I'd get a lawyer and sue the company for sexual harassment.

So THIS is why all of the middle and middle-upper managers are screaming for return to office 🧐 They've been in a dry spell for the past two years. Or worse, forced to seek it from their wives (or husbands).

There's a fine line between victimization and pandering.

You're disempowering thru pandering.

Dont read too much into it. Im not judging you. Its more along the lines of me being surprised by you having to put your hand on a red hot stove in order to conclude you shouldnt put your hand there. That is all. At least you didnt get burnt.

When trying square with the idea of figuring out how many times 43 goes into 27, we may need irrational numbers at the least.

I used to hook up with someone I was also giving lessons to, but I don't think that's quite the same thing.

All fun and games, unless the boss holds a grudge after the inevitable breakup. Then you get screwed...again. No promotion, crappy raises, and all the sh*t work.

I wrote something that turned out to be unpostable... disgraceful gender politics, and unacceptably graphic in regards to the... ahem, physical relationship between you and the wife.
and I'm glad I realised in time.

Have only once been really attracted to someone I worked with.

Before anything got steamy, I networked a new IT position, for which she was qualified, at Diner's Club. Bonus: the DC office was only 10 minutes from where she lived.

The relationship fizzled out, but there were no power dynamics at play. And two years later I met Mrs South, who was in a totally different industry...

Never been in a position where I've ever been attracted to my boss but what strikes me is how different of a question "should I sleep with my boss?" is from "should I sleep with my employee/subordinate?"

The answer to both questions is no, but especially no for the latter.

It's all about power.  If you have enough power over someone that it is reasonable to assume they might be under extreme pressure to submit to you, then you shouldn't be entering into an intimate relationship with them.  Boss/employee, teacher/student, cop/suspect, pedo/kid.

If consent isn't free and unfettered, you're in the wrong.
