We will just have to no accept any Republican victories in 2022.  They have engineered a working system and turned us into farm animals for the wealthy.

Probably won't do much for America, but it might hurt the impact of the pieces of shiat at Sky News, and Australia doesn't have the same idiotic insistence that nazis must be allowed a platform that America does.

Nice catch, a NZ prime minister would be very unlikely to make such a statement as it would likely cause more polarisation in reaction, largely from abroad but possibly domestically.

To be clear, that's an independent senator indicating what he's hoping he can convince the Government of Australia to do. That said, the spearhead of the campaign for a Royal Commission into Murdoch's empire is a previous Prime Minister from the new Government's party, so there's a strong likelihood it will happen soon, but I don't know if it's the first thing on their agenda.

I've heard about this lifehack that you can use. Next time you're at your right-wing crazy parents house, put a parental password control on Fox News. They won't have any idea how to unlock the channel and when they call you for help you could probably just tell them the channel was banned by the Republicans for not being right-wing enough.

NewportBarGuy: St. Ronaldus Maximus

I misread that as St. Rodimus Prime and was reminded of my most shameful childhood memory. The year was 1986. The place: Babylon 5. My father had just taken me to see the Transformers movie. That part was great. And afterward, we went to Fred Meyer's to pick out a Transformer. Best day ever, right?

So I decided I wanted Rodimus Prime. My dad, as barely aware of the franchise as he was, asked me: "Are you sure you don't want Optimus Prime instead? He's like, way cooler."

And then my shame. "No, dad! Optimus Prime is DEAD! Rodimus Prime is the NEW leader of the Autobots!"

May the Creation Matrix forgive me.

It really is a drug, though. I was making fun of my roommate for watching Tucker because the moment that crap came on, he fell back and sighed: "Ah, that's the stuff."

The channel becomes reality to these people. They start parroting the things they've seen on the channel, they become concerned with issues that really have no bearing on their life except that they've been led to believe they should be afraid of it.

Get them away from it for awhile and they start to return to reality.

Fox carefully curates their channel to achieve this.

And independent senator, incidentally, who's probably losing his seat at the end of next month.  (The votes take weeks to count properly but looking at the preliminary results he's highly unlikely to have enough.  Pity, he's decent enough.)

Why is it that all of these countries that don't have a constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech do a just fine job making sure that people who aren't crazy homicidal racists have the abilities to express their views just fine, and when they don't they have a good way to change them so they do?

Yes, that's exactly what we mean. Forcing us to give every terrorist group and fascist organization an outlet for their propaganda is both stupid and unnecessary. It's not the 1700s, and there's no monarch to throw people in jail for questioning the divine right of kings anymore.

Lots of other countries saw the death culture writing on the wall, and noticed that freedom without responsibility is anarchy.

Australia's limitation on free speech is:

(a) For respect of the rights or reputations of others;
( b ) For the protection of national security or of public order, or of public health or morals.

The result is that disinformation aimed at harming a nation can be excised.

The developed nations chose freedom with some limitations.
