Permafrost is less perma? Maybe see how much methane is coming out. We could set it on fire.

What the 'mouth to hell' might look like

This is one of the Seals of the Apocalypse. When it gets hotter, the permafrost melts. When the permafrost melts, it releases frozen biomass. When biomass thaws, it gives off carbon. And that makes it get hotter.

Say your prayers.

Don't worry, nuclear winter will offset global warming

Mouth from hell, you mean.......

Also,
"residents in Batagay in Yakutia in Russia spotted the gigantic opening in the Earth which some believe is a passage to the underworld."
Can we knock it off with this sh*t and just deal with reality for once?

CSB:
I'm a volunteer firefighter in a ski resort town. A few years ago, I experienced snow on fire. A huge pile of snow/ice had slid off a roof and broken a gas line. Gas had started to seep into the huge snow pile. Someone comes out for a smoke, lights their cigarette, throws the match into the snow... expecting the match to go out, not the snow to catch fire. Snow was still on fire when we showed up. Turned off the gas and the snow went out after a like ten minutes.

Hello, 911? My snow is on fire.

I'm sure that went over well.

We have permafrost on this side of the Iron Curtain also.  Have any clathrate blowouts been observed outside of Russia?

/Yes, I know that buildings whose foundations rest on permafrost have started slipping.  Although they share a similar cause, it's not quite the same thing as clathrates suddenly giving up their methane.

Trying to figure out if that mountain next door is a volcano.  No name or anything on google maps, nor will google maps give me contour lines.

Elon Musk's satellites have discovered an ancient temple, now visible due to the shifting layers of frozen earth above it, a few hundred meters beneath the surface.  He's planning on assembling a crack team of scientists and security personnel to investigate, while he continues to work on robotics and space exploration.

Google Maps will show it in 3D, and it's clearly a big hill.

No crater at the top, but looks like some buildings and some structures.

What are those two things bottom left? They look like quad drones, but they'd be way too big.

Is it just me or does this look like a still from a 6th-grade sex-ed film?

Methane coming out of a hole in the ground and burning is better that methane coming out of a hole in the ground and NOT burning.
