Oneiros: As people can't seem to agree on a location, I propose that we have multiple simultaneous parties, spread between MD, DC, and VA.  Maybe Delaware and southern PA, too.

And we should make it convenient for anyone who plans on getting really drunk, and within stumbling distance of our beds.

So someone pick a day, and we can all stay home and drink, and pretend we're being social.

East DMV / Annapolis area Fark party at Calvert Brewing in Upper Marlboro!  Love me some Excellent Adventure!

They could probably really use the business. Every time I go in to Calvert Brewing the taproom is dead and I barely see their beer for sale at any of the restaurants I go to. Its an enormous facility, I just wonder where the heck they're selling it all.

I see it for sale at Rips. (Shrug)

It feels like it's kinda tucked out of the way, and the only way in/out involves driving right by a police station. Once SouthLake is built, there will be a lot of lucky folks within walking distance.

Rockville is a 45 minute drive from where I live in DC, or an hour and a half by transit. Sadly, I don't think that's in the cards for me, but if we do one in DC proper, I'm game!

Evil Twin Skippy: Warthog: ViolentEastCoastCity: How about we meet in DC?  We have DC area farkers in both MD AND VA so it would be hella inconvenient for one of those groups unless we meet in the middle.  The beltway is a pain in the ass.

This. I Iive in Arlington, and do my best to avoid anything that close to the ICC.

What about Tyson's Corner?

It's got a pile of decent restaurants, metro access (the silver line), and it's right off 495 for folks coming in from out of town.

That means MD people would have to do the beltway.  I'm trying to avoid that.

germ78: What about Comet in Chevy Chase? I hear they have a large basement for entertaining groups of people. Kid friendly too!

/Not from DC, just visiting my brother who lives in CCDC

This would be a perfect Fark party spot and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of it.  LOL!

Yeah.. Any day I don't have to filter through a Potomac crossing is a good one.  That said, the Wilson Bridge is about 7-million times better than the Legion bridge.  Rockville works well because I could take the ICC most of the way.

/wish they'd put in more toll lanes so I can bypass the nonsense when I need to cross the metro.

I'm personally okay with Derwood.

Ya know, if good beer is what you're after - Churchkey just reopened after a 2 year shutdown. They have the best beer selection in the region and could use some support!

(The fact that is is walking distance from my home is purely incidental, I swear!)

DC Brau and Right Proper are also good for hosting groups.

Well at least the truckers are gone!

But to echo the above sentiment, there are also DC area farkers who, ya know, live in DC! You wouldn't host a New York fark party in Newark, would you? Or a SF party in Petaluma?

You knew what this was when you moved to the 'burbs!

(This is "mostly" tongue-in-cheek)

Yes, agreed!  I live on ten acres about an hour into VA.  Tysons would be way more convenient but I'm totally voting for IN DC.

All the burbs people should really only have to suffer ONE annoying slog through the burbs into DC, not two (ie, me going through VA burbs, then DC, then MD burbs - fark that).

We don't suffer enough?  You want to add to it?  What kind of monster are you?

Trying to keep you from having to go from VA all the way to Rockville!

(You're in VA, right?  My memory is rubbish.)

SharkInfested: After decades in DC, we're now outside Harper's Ferry. Am I allowed to come...err, attend?

I say if there's a MARC station, you're in the DC area.

Perryville and Martinsburg are DC area now...?

Seriously, though, screw DC and let's have a Baltimore thingy instead. We can drink at the oldest saloon in the US.

I was suggesting we all stay home, and then you pick a place less than 5 miles from me?  Damnit

Well, I guess I could show up if I don't have a scheduling conflict.  (Election judge in PG; gonna try to get some hours for early voting; also have some other things that are still up on the air on dates)

Back when I used to organize MUD parties (for the MUD that the original 4 fark admins all came from), being metro-accessible was a rather important factor, too.

If it wasn't, we had to organize for people with cars to ferry others to/from the metro.  And possibly with floor space for people to crash as we'd get a for number of out-of-towners.

/was at the infamous Jennicam party
//her mom was a mudder
///also lived in DC and was one of those carless people
